Guy Blanchet's 1914 arctic exploration album as a government surveyor near Great Slave Lake

This little fellow was full of curiosity and wandered all over cardigans and hands and fingers today. Quite a few caterpillars had tried to cross the country road, but some of them had been killed. We made sure that this chap was deposited on a nice piece of grass well away from the road. Can anyone identify the species?

You're not very smart if you go outside in Quebec without having every inch of your body covered in wool, water-resistant material, and at least eight sweaters.
