This little fellow was full of curiosity and wandered all over cardigans and hands and fingers today. Quite a few caterpillars had tried to cross the country road, but some of them had been killed. We made sure that this chap was deposited on a nice piece of grass well away from the road. Can anyone identify the species?
On Jun. 15, students attending the various classes at Exploration Academy at Blalack Middle School experienced learning in fun new ways. The Science WOW! class did an experiment with dry ice and bubbles, documenting their findings. The Tabula Digital class learned math concepts in first-person video games. In A Taste of the World, students created and sampled dishes from around the globe and at the end of the summer, will leave with a book of recipes. Other students worked in clay, colored dominos, and work in various art mediums.

Grace, an Exploration Day youth particpant, crafts a paper boat with Jennie Wolf, a freshman member of Science LionPride, a Penn State science organization. The organization was one of more than 50 to host and operate exhibits and demonstrations on the arena floor and concourse of the Bryce Jordan Center during Exploration Day, which took place on Saturday, April 17. Event organizers estimated more than 3,000 participants and family members attended the 12th annual event, which is run by the Pennsylvania Space Grant Consortium.
