Les joueuses du LMRCV ont réussi un authentique exploit en finale du championnat de France (18-7). Menées au score en milieu de deuxième période, elles sont allées chercher l’essai salvateur, celui qui a fait basculer la finale de leur côté. Les Nordistes sont championnes de France. Et la fête ne fait que commencer...
En finale du championnat de France pour la troisième fois en quatre ans, les « putain de nanas » du LMRCV veulent renverser Montpellier, champion en titre, ce samedi soir à Massy. Les Villeneuvoises ne partent pas favorites. Mais le LMRCV est devenu plus qu’un club… Cinq raisons d’y croire.
Parce que l’équipe a appris. Comme on se retrouve… C’est la troisième fois que le LMRCV retrouve Montpellier, le géant du rugby féminin, en finale du championnat. Les Villeneuvoises se sont inclinées deux fois : en 2013 d’un rien (15-12) ; l’an dernier nettement (17-3), en restant spectatrices. Pas question de reproduire la même erreur : les Nordistes seront ce soir à l’offensive, dans le volume, l’intensité. Cette saison, Montpellier s’est imposé 34-15 chez lui en phase régulière quand le LMRCV a loupé la victoire à la maison (12-12). « C’est donc à notre tour de gagner », clament les sœurs Ménager.
Parce que l’équipe monte en puissance. Montpellier a beau présenter la grosse ossature du XV de France autour de la capitaine Gaëlle Mignot, la formidable impression des demi-finales est venue de Villeneuve-d’Ascq, où le LMRCV a renversé Blagnac-Saint-Orens (34-10) au match retour. Un match d’accomplissement, avec le bon rythme, un rugby complet, libéré, une équipe qui avance et ne s’arrête jamais. C’est forcément revenu aux oreilles des Montpelliéraines.
Parce que les « putain de nanas ».
Autoproclamées les « putain de nanas » grâce aux mots de leurs coaches qu’elles épatent comme au premier jour, les Villeneuvoises ont offert une âme à leur équipe capable de repousser ses limites. Le problème (pour l’adversaire), c’est qu’on ne les connaît pas ces limites.
Parce qu’elles ont faim. Déjà deux échecs en finale, ça suffit. La bande de copines-compétitrices veut un titre, un trophée, une ligne au palmarès.
Parce que Alice. Et puis, il y a Alice Dallery, tombée cet automne, grièvement blessée. Et depuis formidable de courage et de vie. Ses copines ont dit qu’elles se battaient pour elle, qui ne descend plus sur le terrain mais crie plus fort qu’une tribune entière. Alors ce soir, le LMRCV jouera à seize. Et l’arbitre n’y verra que du feu.

Mary Kathleen was a mining settlement in north-western Queensland, Australia. It is located in the Selwyn Range between Mount Isa and Cloncurry
History
Mary Kathleen was first settled during the 1860s. Uranium was first discovered at Mary Kathleen by Clem Walton and Norm McConachy in 1954: the deposit and the township was named after the late wife of McConachy. Prospecting and exploitation rights were subsequently on-sold, and in 1955 Rio Tinto Mining formed Mary Kathleen Uranium Ltd to develop a mine and service town. An architect-designed town grew during 1956-58, with reticulated water from a dam, Lake Corella.
St Peter's Catholic Church was built in 1958. After the town closed, the church building was relocated to be a shelter shed Saint Joseph’s Catholic School in Mount Isa.
In 1954, a significant uranium deposit was discovered at the site. A sales contract with the United Kingdom Atomic Energy Authority was signed in 1956. Mining commenced at the end of 1956 and the treatment plant was commissioned in June 1958. The project was developed by Mary Kathleen Uranium Limited (MKU) at a cost of A $24 million. MKU was formed to develop the uranium deposits and work was soon commenced constructing the township, mine, and dam on the nearby Corella River. The ore was mined by the open-cut method and processed on site.
4,080 tonnes of uranium oxide being extracted between 1958 and 1963. In this first phase of operation from 1958 to 1963 Mary Kathleen treated 2.9 million tonnes of ore at an average grade of 0.13% to yield 4082 t (4500 short tons or 9 million pounds weight of U3O8) of uranium concentrate (then actually yellowcake - ammonium diuranate) containing 3460 tonnes of uranium. By 1963 the major supply contract had been satisfied ahead of schedule, and large reserves of ore lay at grass. Consequently, the works were closed down.
The mine then lay idle until 1974, when it was reopened. New supply contracts with Japanese, German and American power utilities prompted this re-opening, with Mary Kathleen's second life extended to 1982 when reserves were finally exhausted. The company made a share issue to raise capital, and the Commonwealth Government, through the Australian Atomic Energy Commission underwrote this, thereby obtaining a 42% holding in the company. Conzinc Riotinto of Australia Limited, a successor of Rio Tinto Mining, held 51%, and the public 7%. The second phase of production began in 1976 and the mine was finally closed down in 1982 after a further production of 4,802 tonnes of uranium oxide. A total of 31 million tonnes of ore were extracted from the mine until it was exhausted. Processing occurred on-site.
Mary Kathleen's uranium deposits originated from contact metasomatic processes. This type of occurrence is uncommon, with Mary Kathleen being the only commercial example. The uraninite here was conglomerated with garnet.
The town, six km away from the mine, was built around a shallow valley with a post office, cinema, sports ovals, a school, banks and a community store. The state school was opened in July 1956; temporary hospital facilities and a community store in March 1957; and May 1957 saw the first water pumped from Lake Corella Dam. By 1961, approximately 1000 people lived at the new township.
The Australian Broadcasting Corporation transmitted to Mary Kathleen via its relay station, ABMKQ which was shut down when the town was abandoned in 1982.
Mary Kathleen was very much a planned, "model" township, blending with its surrounding environment. Two years later, however, with contracts fulfilled, the mine and township temporarily closed.
When the mine re-opened in mid-1974, the population at Mary Kathleen subsequently grew from 80 in August 1974 to 700 in August 1975 and peaked at approximately 1200 in 1981. During its "second life", existing private and community structures and services were revamped and augmented by new additions provided principally by Mary Kathleen Uranium Limited and the Cloncurry Shire Council.
The former town of Mary Kathleen has a unique feat in Australian sport. The former Australian Rules club (Mary Kathleen) won three consecutive premierships from 1977 to 1979 in the Mount Isa Australian Football League, and is one of the few clubs or towns for that matter to win Senior titles, and no longer be in existence as a club or any population in its locality.
With all contracts filled by late 1982, the township, mine and mill were dismantled and the tailings rehabilitated by the end of 1984.[4] Mary Kathleen became the site of Australia's first major rehabilitation project of a uranium mine, which was completed at the end of 1985 at a cost of some A$19 million. In 1986 this work won an award from the Institution of Engineers Australia for environmental excellence. The site became well known for fossicking and gem-stone collecting, and numerous relics are held in the Cloncurry/Mary Kathleen Memorial Park and Museum in Cloncurry.

In response to safeguarding concerns identified by our Rochdale organised crime team, we’ve executed eight warrants this morning and locked up six suspected gang members.
We identified a teenage boy who was being exploited and coerced into drug dealing by a suspected local gang.
With immediate safeguarding measures put in place, we were able to pursue those responsible
As the investigation developed, we identified further victims, including a vulnerable adult whose house was being cuckooed and used as a stash house for the gang.
This morning, we’ve arrested six men aged 18 - 26 on suspicion of conspiracy to supply class A and B drugs and modern slavery offences.
£30,000 cash has been seized along with cannabis and drugs paraphernalia.
Today’s activity is a key example of partnership work and effective information sharing. It’s enabled us to identify crucial members of a suspected organised crime group, but most importantly, we’ve been able to safeguard several children and vulnerable adults.
Sergeant Mark Lutkevitch from our Rochdale Challenger team said: “Exploitation, coercion, and violence are the foundations of modern slavery and drugs trafficking, and gangs will often exploit the vulnerable to further their profits. Our arrests this morning are part of a longstanding investigation into several organised crime groups operating across Rochdale that we strongly believe are involved in the exploitation of young people.
“Young people and vulnerable adults will be threatened as the criminals exert control, which is why tackling exploitation is a high priority for us. We have specialist officers working with young people in our communities to tackle the vicious cycle of gang recruitment, and teams of officers on the frontline pursuing offenders.
“Our communities are key in helping us be one step ahead of the criminals. By being our eyes and our ears and finding the courage to report what is taking place in your area only strengthens our relentless pursuit of organised crime and could make a real difference for a child.
“I want to encourage communities to trust their instinct. If something doesn’t feel right; report it. If you think somebody is being exploited, or you think a house might have been taken over by drug dealers, feed that information to us. If you want to remain anonymous, report it through Crimestoppers, and we will act.”
