I know it's hard to tell, but the top of this spiraling balloon column is ready to pop! The topper is rigged with a small box that will explode the outside balloon with the press of a button. Inside the balloon is approximately 100 small balloons waiting to fly out!

Shannon Gillen presents VACATIONLAND. When the Harris family’s plans to go on vacation are unexpectedly put to the test, their relationships explode in a maelstrom of anxiety. Ed’s split self explores the active tension between living his life defined by things he has no control over versus his personal commitments. Ed’s wife Abby contends with becoming conscious to a life she doesn’t necessarily want anymore, all while their Kid watches on. VACATIONLAND unflinchingly and hilariously exposes the violent language of family life.

Shannon Gillen, co-director of DOORKNOB COMPANY, received her BFA from The Juilliard School where she was mentored by Martha Clarke. Gillen studied Meisner acting at the Maggie Flanigan Studio and served as choreographer on several television pilots. She has presented her work at Alice Tully Hall, the Clark Studio Theater, Dance New Amsterdam, HERE Arts Center, with Movement Research at Judson Church, the Ontological-Hysteric Theater, with the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council’s Sitelines Series as part of New York City’s River to River Festival, and held residency with Festival Oltre Passo in Lecce, Italy, Fresh Tracks at Dance Theater Workshop and is an (08-09) artist in residence at DNA. Gillen’s work is committed to exploring a narrative line within a heightened reality, where many mediums overlap and exist together; movement, text, scenic elements and music work in tandem to bring human behavior to life. Gillen strives to return the ‘movement body’ to character driven experience, where spontaneous reaction is the directional force and where performers learn to ‘live truthfully under imaginary circumstances’. www.doorknobcompany.org

Exploding Head Syndrome is a hardcore punk band from Oslo, Norway. The band hit the rehearsal space for the first time in the summer of 2010, and about a year later released their first recordings; a 7-tracks self-titled EP, which was well received by the norwegian press.
EHS describe their sound as “angry punk” and their lyrics deal with the stress and frustration of todays society. The band is highly influenced by american punk and british hardcore. Exploding Head Syndrome is renowned for their energetic live shows and in the last couple of years the band has toured Norway and has shared stage with bands like Satyricon, Oslo Ess and Blood Command.
On 9. October 2013 the band released their first full-length album Disciples of Reason on their own label Exploding Records. On the record they co-operated with producer Kenneth Ishak (Heyerdahl/Beezwax). The reception of the album has been great, and it has been hailed as the norwegian album of year by some critics.

you know, people were right, the 5D wasn't the best at the action shots.
Took forever to park the images on the card too.
Hello East Bay, are you still there? A full-blown thunderhead explodes over the East Bay, even visible from here!! Looks like an atomic bomb has exploded there!! Look at that anvil... Due to the instability present from a passing low pressure area, t-storms were possible. It turned out that a decent, strong t-storm (though isolated) had formed in the East Bay! I wished I was in Tracy at the time... Pic taken from around San Jose, CA. (Thursday late afternoon, October 1, 2015; 5:13 p.m.)
Weather update:
The offshore low that we were monitoring the past few days was finally moving over California this day. This system has already brought our first measurable rainfall in months! Much of the rainfall had occurred just the previous day and into the early morning hours this day. Anyway, the skies this day were to be clearing as the low finally moves to our east. However, due to an unstable airmass aloft by the low, a strong but isolated storm cell had formed just to the northeast of us! It was like as if a nuke exploded over the East Bay! Too bad I wasn't able to drive towards it in time... I bet they had a nice time enjoying that storm around the Tracy, CA areas! Anyhow, we were forecast to see mostly sunny skies with a return to near normal temps by Friday and into the weekend...
