Explaining the real UCD cycle

I have to explain this one. The theme is music. So I was thinking about how to get a visual representation of music. A friend of mine actually suggested this and I wanted to see if I could pull it off. I took my stereo speaker and laid it flat on the floor (so that the speaker was pointing to the ceiling). Then, I hooked up my iPod to the stereo. I found a song that had some good thumping bass. Then I poured salt into the speaker. Then I turned on the sound as I clicked the shutter button. It took a few attempts before I got the shot I was looking for. But I like it.

The interesting thing is, as a visual representation of music, I think it's about as good as any. There are tiny small dots, large big dots, and there are tightly bound groups, as well as loosely bound separations. Some are in focus, some are out of focus, and the flash produced some interesting bokeh as well. It was fun, to say the least, and in all honesty, turned out way better than I expected.

As far as I could tell, the face projected on the balloon belonged to someone singing a karaoke song while the whole beach looked on. Terrifying thought, yet there was a 40-person waiting list to go up there.
