The left dotted mound--actually is the face of the BIG LOWER MESA WITH RAM SKELETON ON TOP. The lower small dotted mound is THE BLACK MOUND--it has to be zagged around on final ascent. The reason the black mound is so important is because that is where they cut their feet in the shadows--a couple hundred feet before hitting the top. This photo is also important because I am standing AT OR NEAR where they did the first fire rest.

This bears some explaining. Before I went inside the cave, the dude outside that sold me the ticket told me to change out of my shoes and into sandals, which I begrudgingly accepted, because really, what kind of cave has a dress code. I noticed other people had taken off their socks as well, and I just followed suit.

 

It wasn't until I got here and realized I was supposed to wade in this glacial ass cave water that I realized why I had to change out. Thanks, ticket guy. Fuck you, cave.

Unending bloody marys, mimosas and champagne + lots of good friends = ridiculous drunken brunch. I haven't been so deliriously drunk since college, I do believe. It's amazing I managed to get my camera back to my house in one piece.

 

Not all of these are perfectly sharp or framed well or anything... my photographic abilities degenerate some with the number of glasses of champagne consumed.

 

Fun day.

One of the birthday party activities was an overly complicated relay race that dealt with cleaning a fake snake's cage and all the steps a keeper has to take.

I'm pretty sure I wasn't paying attention.
