Sparks telling us some disheartening details about what his stay was like. This pictures gives some scale of how big the room is with the people in it, the next looks down the room. Apparently, most of the prisoners in the room were political prisoners. However, one of the interesting things Sparks told us is the prison system mixed common prisoners with political prisoners in the hopes the common criminals would make the political prisoners into common criminals and the political prisoners would forget about politics.
Pretty stupid.
The opposite happened - the political prisoners educated the common criminals - and the prison started punishing prisoners with solitary confinement and severly restricting the learning and education the prisoners had access too. I think Sparks said at one point Nelson Mandela was denied access to any form of reading or educational materials for four years during his 18 year stay on Robben Island.

"Coming from a family that cultivated and sold plant seeds for a living, Kusama saw a pumpkin for the first time during a childhood visit to a seed-harvesting farm with her grandfather. Nestled into the landscape between fields of zinnia, periwinkle, and nasturtium flowers, she spotted an unusually shaped gourd the size of a man’s head. The artist was attracted to the pumpkin for its “charming and winsome form,” celebrating its lumpy, unpretentious, organic shape. The pumpkin motif first appeared in some of Kusama’s drawings from the late 1940s and has repeatedly shown up in her paintings, sculptures, drawings, and installations. Her initial pumpkin mirrored room was staged in 1991 and was later displayed at the 1993 Venice Biennale. Stepping into Infinity Mirrored Room—All the Eternal Love I Have for the Pumpkins, one is transported to a space that recalls fairytales and fantasy. The glowing pumpkins, modeled after the Japanese kabocha squash, are married with Kusama’s signature polka dot pattern within an infinitely repeating space."

This is a bit more complicated than it looks, so I had better explain! I wasn't totally happy with an earlier image of the Dumbbell that I posted in June 2013, taken with my 8" Newtonian. Hydrogen Alpha had dominated it and I had only used 2x2 binning. So this is both a new and a new plus old effort here.
On the left is a cropped new image taken on July 3 and 4th 2013 at 1x1 binning through my 8" f5 Carbon fibre Newtonian using H Alpha, OIII, SII and blue filtered data to make up the image. On the right in close-up I've combined this new data with LRGB data taken through my 12" f10 SCT in June 2011. In both instances I've used my Atik383L mono CCD to capture the data. At first glance they look identical but if you look closely at the two images, there is much more detail in the close up of the Nebula, including more stars, although more of the dust clouds in the wider view.
Total image time on the left is: 3hours 54minutes and on the right 5hours 21minutes. H Alpha = 104 minutes, Luminance = 69 minutes, SII = 60 minutes, Blue = 42minutes, OIII =
34 minutes, Red = 12 minutes and green = 12 minutes.
