Wahnsinn! Vielen Dank an alle Besucher des 1. Kölner Carrotmobs – Dank euch konnte im Obst und Gemüse Land ein Rekordumsatz von 3.250 EUR erzielt werden. Wie die 2.937,50 EUR, die nun für Investitionen in CO2-reduzierende Maßnahmen zur Verfügung stehen, am besten zu verwenden sind, werden wir in den nächsten Tage zusammen mit unserem Energieberater, Herr Krasa, klären. Voraussichtlich können dank des Carrotmobs knapp 2 Tonnen CO2 pro Jahr eingespart werden.
Pünktlich um 14 Uhr trafen die ersten Carrotmober am Obst und Gemüse Land ein und bildeten schon bald eine Schlange vor Necos Kasse. Ein konstanter Zustrom an weiteren Carrotmobern sorgte dafür, dass sich zwischen die Klänge von Frank Stern und dem World Music Trio den ganzen Nachmittag das monotone Geklingel der Ladenkasse mischte. Kurz vor acht Uhr war es dann soweit – Kassensturz. Die Abrechnung zusammen mit Neco ergab einen Rekordumsatz von 3.250 EUR. Geschätzte 350 Leute haben am Samstagnachmittag den Weg ins Obst und Gemüse Land gefunden und so dem ersten Kölner Carrotmob zum Erfolg verholfen. Mehr auf unserer Website

Tisseuse d'Ikat.
L'Ikat est une sorte de sarong dont la méthode de tissage et les motifs sont spécifiques à l'Ile de Flores. Contrairement aux modèles Balinais ou de Java, le plus souvent des tissus imprimés, l'Ikat est entièrement tissé à la main. Fil à fil. En dehors du bleu, les couleurs sont exclusivement naturelles, issues de plantes ou de pierres de la région. En comptant la création de couleurs, de motifs et le tissage, il faut 2 mois à une main experte pour achever le travail.

The Ikat is a kind of sarong that the method of weaving and the reasons are specific to the island of Flores. Unlike models Balinese or Java, usually printed fabrics, ikat is entirely hand woven. Wire to wire. Outside the blue, the colors are only natural, from plants or stones in the region. Including the creation of colors, patterns and weaving, it takes 2 months to an expert hand to complete the work.
Morgane Faber a 26 ans. Elle est administratrice-logisticienne pour Première Urgence Internationale depuis avril 2017 à Ndélé, la capitale de la préfecture du Bamingui-Bangoran, au nord de la Centrafrique. C'est sa première mission humanitaire. Elle témoigne de son parcours et de son rôle sur la mission : « Après 2 ans passés à travailler pour une ONG à Montréal, je rêvais de travailler au plus proche des populations bénéficiaires. Au début, je m'orientais vers la coopération volontaire, le partage d'expertise entre ONG locale et ONG canadienne, sur des aspects techniques. J'envisageais de partir comme experte en « gestion de volontaires », c'est à dire l’accueil, l'orientation et l'appui des volontaires sur le terrain, étant donné que c'était mon métier à Montréal. Puis, une amie m'a parlé de Première Urgence Internationale. Ce qui m'a tout de suite intéressé, c'était la possibilité d'obtenir un poste au plus près des bénéficiaires. Même si j'ai un poste de support, dans le contexte de Ndélé, si proche du terrain, je suis très impliqué dans la mise en œuvre des activités. J'ai l'habitude de dire qu'un programme humanitaire, c'est comme un spectacle : il y a la partie visible et il y a l'envers du décor, et c'est tout aussi important. Les acteurs ont besoin de costumes, d'une scène, de lumières, de manger, etc. Quand les rouages sont bien huilés, les équipes programme, comme les acteurs, peuvent faire du bon travail. Ici, il y a très peu de distance entre les équipes support et les équipes projets. Nous communiquons souvent et c'est ce qui fait notre force. Dans mon poste, il y a à la fois des taches routinière, récurrente, mais le travail logistique, c'est aussi beaucoup répondre à des urgences, faire face à des problèmes difficilement anticipables. Pour faire une autre analogie avec le spectacle, c'est un peu comme marcher sur un fil : lil faut une méthode, les procédures, pour rester dessus, mais en cas de bourrasques, il faut savoir improviser ! Avant d'arriver à Ndélé, j'avais assez peur : me retrouver pour une première mission au nord de la Centrafrique, non loin du Tchad et du Soudan, était plutôt angoissant ! J'ai mis plusieurs nuits avant de dormir tranquillement. Quand on dit « zone rebelle », on s'imagine le chaos. Mais, en fin de compte, la vie à Ndélé est plutôt organisée. Et puis on apprend vite à connaître les gens autour de nous et les mœurs locales ; il ne faut pas hésiter à poser des questions. Au bout de 3 mois, j'avais pris mes marques. J'ai grandi en Afrique, à Madagascar, et je pense que ça m'a peut-être aidé, car j'étais habituée à vivre dans un contexte où j'étais l'étrangère ». / Morgane Faber is 26 years old. She talks about her career and role on the mission: "After 2 years spent working for an NGO in Montreal, I dreamed of working closer to the beneficiary populations. At first, I was thinking about voluntary cooperation; sharing of expertise between local NGOs and Canadian NGOs, on technical aspects. I was considering leaving as an expert in "volunteer management", ie the welcome, guidance and support of volunteers on the ground, since it was my job in Montreal. Then, a friend told me about Première Urgence Internationale. What immediately interested me was the possibility of getting a job closer to the beneficiaries. Even though I have a support position, in the context of Ndélé, so close to the field, I am very involved in the implementation of the activities. I usually say that a humanitarian program is like a show: there is the visible part and there is a part behind the scenes, and that's just as important. The actors need costumes, a scene, lights, eating, etc. When the wheels are well oiled, the program teams, like the actors, can do a good job. Here, there is very little distance between the support teams and the project teams. We communicate often and that is our strength. In my job, there are both routine and recurrent tasks, but logistical work requires also a lot to respond to emergencies, dealing with problems that are hard to anticipate. To make another analogy with show, it's a bit like walking on a tightrope: it takes a method, procedures, to stay on, but in case of squalls, you have to improvise! Before arriving at Ndélé, I was quite affraid: going for a first mission to northern Central African Republic, not far from Chad and Sudan, was rather scary! I spent several nights before sleeping peacefully. When we say "rebel zone", we imagine chaos. But, in the end, life in Ndélé is rather organized. And then I quickly learn to know the people around me and understand local habits; I never hesitate to ask questions. After 3 months, I had taken my marks. I grew up in Africa, in Madagascar, and I think that may have helped me, because I was used to living in a context where I was the foreigner”.

Kan veren kişilerde kalp ve damar hastalıklarının daha az görüldüğü yapılan birçok araştırmada ortaya çıkmış, Amerikalı Meyers D. ve arkadaşları tarafından 1997 yılında 'Heart' isimli bir dergide yayınlanan araştırmada, açık bir şekilde kan veren insanların kalp ve damar hastalıklarına yakalanma şansının kan vermeyen akranlarına göre çok az olduğu ispatlanmıştır.10
Koupio Üniversitesi'nden Jokka Salonen ve çalışma arkadaşları yaptıkları araştırmaların ilk bulgularına göre, vücudunda yüksek seviyede demir (Fe) bulunan kişilerin kalp krizi açısından büyük bir risk taşıdıklarını göstermişlerdir.
Kadınların adet kanaması yolu ile demir kaybettikleri için kadınlardaki düşük demir miktarı yağların oksidasyon hızını yavaşlatmış; böylece damar sertliği (Atheroskleroz) erkeklere göre kadınlarda daha az görülmektedir.
Bilindiği üzere serbest oksijen radikalleri yağların oksidasyonunu sağlamakta, böylece damar sertliği (Atheroskleroz) gelişmektedir. Bu konunun demirle olan ilişkisi nedir? Demir,yağları okside eden bu oksidan moleküllerin üretimini sağlayan Fenton reaksiyonunda yer alır. Yani insan vücudunda ne kadar çok demir varsa o kadar çok zararlı oksidan molekül meydana gelir. Bunun tersine adet kanaması, kan vermek gibi kan kaybına, dolayısıyla demir kaybına yol açan durumlarda ortamda serbest demir azaldığı için oksidasyon da azalır. Bunun net sonucu kişide kalp damar hastalıkları ve diğer birçok hastalığın daha az sıklıkla görülmesidir. Bu hipoteze dayanarak araştırmacılar düzenli olarak kan verenlerin kalp krizi, felç, inme, anjina ve diğer kalp ve damar hastalıklarına yakalanma oranlarının kan vermeyenlere göre çok daha az olduğunu bulmuşlardır. Demirin hastalıklarla olan ilişkisini gösteren çok sayıda çalışma birçok tıp dergisinde (Lancet, Cell, JAMA vb.) yayınlanmıştır.

35,000 feet over North Dakota, Flight 231 from BWI to SEATAC. A weaver and a Surgeon with his charming wife discussed weaving, and the ancient arts of Russian and Aleut cultures. A collaboration occurred, the Surgeon placing his precise knots into the work, expertely. Well, he said he was paid by the hour. I said I was paid by the inch.
Now, when viewed as a whole, the surgeon's knots are jaunty and add charm to a contemporary Aleut basket.
We need an Aleut who is a weaver to become a Surgeon !!! Who will it be ??

Cristobal ist Botaniker mit deutsch-spanischen Wurzeln und vermittelt seine umfangreichen Kenntnisse mit einer Begeisterung, die ansteckend wirkt.
Kennengelernt haben wir ihn bei einer (deutschsprachigen) Führung durch den Botanischen Garten in Puerto de la Cruz, wo er uns eine Menge von Informationen zu den dort gezeigten Pflanzen, aber auch zur historischen Entwicklung der Botanik aus wissenschaftlicher Sicht mit Bezug zu Flora und Fauna auf Teneriffa auf sehr charmante Weise nahe brachte. Die Inselgruppe der Kanaren hat eine einzigartige Pflanzenwelt und Cristobal versteht es, sein Wissen darüber so verständlich weiter zu geben, dass es auch für Laien nie langweilig wird. Er hat aber zweifellos auch die Kompetenz als Experte auf wissenschaftlicher Ebene und könnte auch eine Professur an einer Universität wahrnehmen.
Die paar Stunden, die wir mit ihm verbringen konnten, waren so unterhaltsam und lehrreich, dass wir diese Führung uneingeschränkt empfehlen können. Er bietet aber auch Exkursionen zu verschiedenen Orten auf Teneriffa an.
Da wir ihn erst am Ende unseres Urlaubs kennengelernt haben, müssen wir das nach Möglichkeit beim nächsten Aufenthalt auf der Insel nachholen.

Die Porträts entstanden im botanischen Garten am Ende der Führung. Nachdem ich ihm die Bilder zur Verfügung gestellt hatte, kommentierte er die Fotos mit der Bemerkung, dass er schon ziemlich "altersblond" geworden sei.
Ich bedanke mich bei Cristobal für den netten Kontakt und die Bereitschaft zur Teilnahme an meinem Fotoprojekt.

Cristobal lives in Tenerife and is an expert for botany. We met him at a guided tour through the Botanical Garden of Puerto de la Cruz, the "Jardin de la aclamacion de Orotava"
He gave us a lot of information about the plants of the canarian islands, their classification, genetics, distribution and the economic importance, but he shows his substantial knowledge in a very pleasant and entertaining manner.
Therefore it was a very exciting experience and we recommend this tour for everyone visiting Tenerife.

These portrait photos were made at the end of the tour and after he had seen the results, he commented the photos, that his appearance is rather changing to "old blond".
But I think his look is appropriate for an eminent authority and the images give a feeling of his charisma.

Hier sprechen (ganz links) der Journalist Carlo Massarini (der selbst für mich in den letzten Gymnasiumsjahren ein Held war, er moderierte eine berühmte Sendung über Musikvideos, "Mr. Fantasy"), ganzrechts Piero Dorfles (Literaturkritiker aus Triest, langjähriger Moderator der einzigen (!!) Büchersendung im italienischen Fernsehen, Per un pugno di libri, ein Wettstreit zwischen Schulklassen) und in der Mitte der Journalist Gianluca Nicoletti, second-life-Experte, über "Wenn der Held ein Avatar ist", also über Protagonisten und Mechanismen im Netz.
So sind sie jetzt, innerhalb dieser Metakommunikation, meine Opfer ;-)

Quest'anno èStoria, festival internazionale della storia, ha avuto come tema "gli eroi".
Qui parlano (a sinistra) il giornalista Carlo Massarini (che per me stessa era una specie di eroe ai tempi del liceo, come presentatore del mitico programma "Mr. Fantasy"), a destra Piero Dorfles (critico letterario triestino, da anni presentatore dell'unica (!) trasmissione sui libri nella tv italiana, Per un pugno di libri) e al cenro il giornalista Gianluca Nicoletti, esperto di second life, su "Quando l'eroe è un avatar", quindi sui protagonisti e i meccanismi nella rete.
Così ora sono diventati, in questa metacomunicazione, le mie vittime ;-)

Tier im Fokus, eine Tierrechtsorganisation, organisiert jede zwei Monate einen Fest mit einem Thema und anschliessend ein Buffet.
Diesmal war es "Food Waste" also Lebensmittelverschwendung.
Eingeladen waren der Ökonom João Almeida (Foodwaste.ch), der Ethiker und Welternährungs-Experte Thomas Gröbly, Markus Hurschler von soliTerre sowie der Aktivmitglied Tobi Sennhauser von tier-im-fokus.ch.
Einige Bestandteile des Buffets wurden aus Essenreste von Grossverteilern gekocht.

The fifth FesTif theme was "food waste"
Guests included the economist João Almeida (Foodwaste.ch), the ethicist and the World Food expert Thomas Gröbly, Mark Hurschler of soliterre and the active member Tobi Sennhauser of tier-im-fokus.ch.
Some ingredients which were cooked in the buffet are made of duping from wholesalers.
