Experimenting with off-camera light. Strobe with a 12" snoot 30 degrees to camera left. Second strobe set to wide angle dialed down one stop 30 degrees to camera right. Shortly after this she decided she was fed up with my experiment and hid.

I was testing stuff out on a darker colored shirt.
1. What do the transfers for light shirts look like?
2. How much does the dye on a 50% cotton shirt bleed through the dark color transfer paper?
3. What happens when I layer these things?

I've been studying rock and other natural surfaces for a long time. I try to produce a "random" style in my shapes and their surfaces, and this series seems to show that I've accomplished what I'm after. The "beauty" of these pieces is perhaps up to debate, but I think at least I've accomplished an effect that transcends the human touch. There is little evidence here of "my" work or my imposition of form or surface on the natural ingredients.
These tiles were bisque fired once. The terracotta is impregnated with fireplace ash, mostly hardwood that I piled up for my friends at their place in New Hampshire last year.
