An experiment to see how well the cleaners clean the office. Results: not well...

The cliche about cleaners not cleaning is alive and well here (as it has been in the last three offices I've worked at...)

This picture is part of the project I am doing with Karla Melanias and Brisa Paim. Lith print done by Sebastian Sussman.

Here I am playing with black and White. Again.

London, Oct, 2010.

During the weeks of the HWT Experiment, forecasters assess a new tool using rapidly-updating high-resolution gridded Probabilistic Hazard Information (PHI) as the basis for next-generation severe weather warnings. This experiment is part of a broad effort to revitalize the NWS watch/warning paradigm known as Forecasting a Continuum of Environmental Threats (FACETs). The major emphasis of the HWT PHI experiment is on initial testing of concepts related to human-computer interaction while generating short-fused high-impact Probabilistic Hazard Information for severe weather. The long-term goal of this effort is to move the refined concepts and methodologies that result from this experiment into Hazard Services, the next generation warning tool for the NWS, for further testing and evaluation in the HWT prior to operational deployment. This experiment will run concurrently with the “HS-PHI with End Users” experiment.

My first attempt to 'scrim' a piece of tagua nut ivory.

The drawing looked better on paper! Honest.

Only one of the gold paints changed stightly after being in contact with the MAC

Can this bloom this time too?

Our own Cecily Haley entertained the kids with two programs of Chemistry experiments!

A good friend gave me this generator, therefore of course I'm going to experiment with it.

it was said that this man would turn up with some little piece of equipment and proceed to do some real science. In this case it involved a portable radio (for time) and a photocell (to estimate the transit times). I'm afraid I don't remember his name. I don't remember anybodys' name.

...But now I have the name! See below.

Cropped with feedback from the Critique group; this does make a much better picture.

Two and a half years after my failed Rit dye experiment and I return to the doll world. I discovered a great comparison between various dyes [denofangels.com/threads/which-dye-is-best-3-how-temperatu...], and then a thread demonstrating the best product's effectiveness [denofangels.com/threads/dc-elizabeth-neck-breast-modifica...].

I was sold. iDye Poly would be my saving grace after all these years. I ordered brown and yellow. The pot shows a mixture of 1:1, though I only put about half a packet each in the pot.

The pot used is one I found cheap at thrift store. It was meant for fondu and /said/ it was stainless steal, but the grey results I got in my Rit dye experiment indicated that the pan I thought was stainless actually contained aluminum. I didn't want to make that mistake again, so I conducted numerous tests including magnetic strength, water shine, and ring tone.

The heating surface pictured is a portable convection stove top. I especially liked using this machine because I could set the temperature of the water. I discovered that temperature improves the intensity of the color. (By the way, I did not use the color intensifier packets.)

Another fun experiment made by Oriol.

Day three hundred!

I got to the office this morning, had some mail to put in the mailbox, and noticed this peep hole. So, I had to experiment!

A size comparison of sorts.

I felt the energy flowing through my hands... (heat energy btw ;) )

trying to experiment with light and position.

I set the tripod up infront of the window, lights switched off. street lights > camera > spun.

I kind of enjoy photographing windows at the moment, no idea why.

Seeing how thin the counters can go and how fat the strokes can be. Not convinced about the proportions of the binocular g in the bolder weights — bowl too big? The binocular g is an alternate.

I was experimenting with light in a dark box, looking for ideas to explore in my 52 weeks photography project. This image didn't work for what I was looking for but I still like it. Maybe I should do a series in a dark box following this one.
