FUCHSIAS/FUSCHIAS....EXPERIMENT
This is an old painting I was never satisfied with, so I decided to use it as an experiment with Unryu Rice paper.
I tore the rice paper into interesting shapes and laid the rice paper over the painting.
I diluted Acrylic Matte Medium by 50% with water. Using an old brush I painted the Matte Medium over the rice paper until it adhered to the
painting.
I like the interest the rice paper threads give to this painting.
The painting is Mixed Media using Watercolor, Ink, and Oil pastels.
This is another idea from Rose Edin's book ''COLOR HARMONIES...PAINT WATERCOLORS FILLED WITH LIGHT''
I spelled Fuchsias/Fuschias two ways because I find that there are now two acceptable ways to spell it!!!!
I guess it is kinda like Ketchup...if you spell something ''wrong'' long enough, society will eventually accept/change it.
Maybe some of you might be old enough to remember when ''Ketchup'' was spelled ''Catsup"...:) :)
Image 3 of 4. These are acrylic beads, the kind used in aquariums and such. The four scenes are positioned exactly the same. I merely changed the lighting. You can see how different the view and details revealed by the changes. Random Stuff 038
Some macro experiments with Kenko extension tubes and a few different lenses. 60mm f2.8D micro, 70-200 f2.8 VRII, and 70-300G. At one point managed to reach 1:3 magnification confirmed my photographing a rule.
Lit with Nikon SB910 triggered with old faithful YongNuo radio system.
On the slope of Kill Devil Hill to the left, the Wright brothers experimented with gliders in the period 1900-1905 Here also Wilbur Wright failed in an attempted power-driven flight December 14, 1905. After just 3.5 seconds in the air the Wrights' flying machine stalled and settled to the ground. Two days were needed for repairs. Then the stage was set for the successful flight of December 17th.

Connectivity and readymade practice : experimenting, manipulating and combining daily life objects in order to attempt, to force or to mystify a workable connection between them, at least to make it visible and/or possible. This exercise is to be considered as a warm-up, a first step towards a further installation or project.

I did a little bit of experimenting with some flaw I found in my camera -- and I came up with this. It's just a cheap trick.
So, you know how in Lucky they're always showing girls with their tunics tucked into their skirts to maximize the ways they can wear them? I thought I would give it a try. I am not sure how pleased I am with it, mostly because I feel like the pattern on the top is sorta boho and the skirt is not. Any thoughts?

Wore for: a very frustrating morning of errands that turned into a lot of driving, getting nothing done, and spending money on stuff I didn't need.
Experimenting with transfer, the heat of the iron lifted the acrylic undercoat, but I kinda like what happened, anyway.
This was another one of my muffin experiments that turned out quite yummy... Here's the recipe!
1 cup organic cornmeal
2 cups organic unbleached organic white flour
1 cup organic stone ground whole wheat flour
1/2 cup organic corn flour
2 tbsp organic flax meal
1-1/2 tsp baking soda
2 tsp baking powder
1 tbsp organic dried orange peel
1 tbsp cinnamon
1 tbsp nutmeg
1 tbsp ginger
1 cup organic sugar
1 tsp salt
1 tbsp balsamic vinegar
1 cup Earth Balance margarine (softened)
1/2 cup maple syrup
1/2 cup apple sauce
1 15 oz. can organic sweet potato puree
1 tbsp vanilla
1 tbsp lemon extract
1.5 cups vanilla soymilk
1 tbsp maple extract
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
1. In mixing bowl, add softened margarine & sugar. Mix.
2. Heat 1 cup of the vanilla soymilk for about 30 seconds in microwave. Add to margarine and sugar. Mix, then add the remaining 1/2 cup of soymilk.
3. Add remaining wet ingredients.
4. Slowly add in dry ingredients. Consistency should be like a think cake batter.
5. Fill muffin tins and bake for 18-20 minutes (pan of 24 mini-muffins); adjust according to size of muffin; the toothpick method works great for this.
Optional add-ins could be:
-dried cranberries & pecans
-replace the applesauce with 1/2 cup crushed pineapple & add 1/2 cup shredded coconut
Makes 72 mini-muffins or 36 regular size muffins (these freeze well... pop in your lunch box the night before, and it's thawed in time for breakfast the next morning).
ink tank experiments, taken by putting drops of red & black ink into a fish tank & taking a macro photograph using vintage tamron adaptall 105/2.5mm lens on extension tubes on 5dii & lit with studio flashes
Flashdoodling experiment in blue and green using macro. Two slaves shining against the walls more or less directly, manual exposure. Results a started to get better when I put a piece of stick-on aluminum tape at an angle before the on-camera flash and kept it off the scene .
