Yet another shot from my experimentation with the sunflowers yesterday.

I like to try different things on my sliders. Experimentation can be good.

Happy Slider Sunday

Evening is a time of real experimentation. You never want to look the same way.

Only the center was exposed correctly. Everything else was pulled from the shadows. I liked the impressionist type look it left.

Fun with overlapping textures and tweaking until the picture bleeds a little around the edges.

The bokeh layer was stolen first from Elsvo, who used it in one of her wonderful self-portraits, and she got it from Aimelle on dA.

More experimentation with the 2X extender.

Olive oil on water with light from the side.

It was raining again today so I thought I'd try something that I have been wanting to do for some time. I have been looking with some delight at some of the amazing macro photographers on Flickr and their fantastic water droplet reflection photos and have become inspired. This is my first attempt so all you experts out there, feel free to say what you think ... it is a learning process after all :)

NB. All individual images shot on 23rd December for POTD. Collage created and uploaded on 27th December. Flickr dates the collage image as 19th December. Bizarre.

Thank you again Senpai Crash for teaching me so much more to help improve my photography

Trying to decide if I like this color combo.

and a failure that I love.

zero image 4x5 pinhole on paper, trying new one-step developer that didn't work for me. dunno yet what I did wrong, but I ruined 3 other paper negs and 3 rolls of film.

sigh...

live and learn.

I haven't developed film in a long time and even struggled loading the film reels.

I will plunge onward.

experimentation

Experimenting with editing in photoshop CS5 with a photo I took in Alaska. Not too advanced yet.. Tell me what you think?

Experimentation in lighting and exposure

What to do on a rainy day? Attempt to catch a water drip free hand with a 20 mm extension tube using auto focus. :-)

Procrastination because I should have been doing yard work, and experimentation because it was my first go with the AI-S Nikkor 50mm f/1.2, an all-manual lens I picked up used on eBay and learned of from Russ Barnes' blog on Nikon old skool---vintage glass without antique prices. It's not razor sharp at f/1.2, but produces some sweet "artistic" bokeh (so they say). It's a solid, gem of a lens.

A colder version

... the title of which was sadly inspired by the only APP game I play on my phone. but it has lots of colours and is quite logical yet challenging, so suits me...

[Playing with a slowish shutter speed, but without the benefit of a tripod :-( so not quite as a slow or steady as I would have liked; i mean.. who takes a tripod on holiday with them??]

After viewing someone else's photo of this same scene. Which I happened to like better than my own. I decided to play around with some settings.

I won't go into details about gamut proofing and gamut warnings. But this is what I came up with. It gave me something to do for an hour, since I'm running out of pictures to process. :
