This one is about to share it's beauty with the world.

There's been a couple of sunny days and now, Storms expected!

Seacrest Park Cove. Seattle, WA.

Yes, it's true, we spent a bit more time at this location. And we were actually very lucky with the train traffic. We managed to get several shots of the popular class EL21, locomotives by LEW Hennigsdorf ex GDR. The light improved with every minute.

"If you've been bad,

Don't expect any cheer,

For Krampus is coming,

And he is near."

My personal favorite from this set. Using the lights from distant fishing boats was not how I expected to expose the scne but it worked out really well. Just a fun freaking morning on the beach.

OK, raise your hand if you expected a moose in my ungulate series. I suspect there are lots of raised hands out there :-).

We found this nice bull in my favorite moose hotspot in Colorado. He was heading toward us and after this shot, it was time to retreat to the car.

"Our lives are defined by opportunities; even the ones we miss." - Eric Roth

While setting up this shot several people stopped to watch what I was doing which I guess is to be expected when doing toy photography in a crowded National Park. There was a time when that kind of attention made me anxious , feeling like I’m the weird guy taking pictures of toys in public. But now when I see someone watching, I’ll ask them, “You wanna see what the shot looks like?” They almost always say yes and so I show them the back of the camera. It has led to some great conversations and even a few new followers.

Unfortunately I was too focused on setting up the shot today and dealing with wind gusts that I didn’t interact as much with the people who were curious about what I was doing.

Perhaps being hyper focused on taking a photo about “missed opportunities” was a missed opportunity in and of itself.

A few nights ago I captured this in the night sky at about 11:01 pm. I had to wait until it cleared the low clouds over Lake Ontario, and the other Apartment buildings. The full moon had occurred earlier in the day at 7:39 am (local time), so this moon was already about 15 hours past being full. It's roughly only about 95.5% full at this point. You can noticed the shadowed craters along the upper left edge perimeter.

Being the "first" super moon of the year, it was actually noticeably bigger than what I would have expected for its position in the sky. Although it was still low in the sky, most of the colour was due to the smoke residue lingering from the forest fire smoke from earlier in the week.

The pessimist complains about the wind; the optimist expects it to change; the realist adjusts the sails. William Arthur Ward.

William Arthur Ward (December 17, 1921–March 30, 1994) was an American motivational writer.

Wind is the flow of gases on a large scale. On the surface of the Earth, wind consists of the bulk movement of air. Winds are commonly classified by their spatial scale, their speed, the types of forces that cause them, the regions in which they occur, and their effect. The strongest observed winds on a planet in the Solar System occur on Neptune and Saturn. Winds have various aspects: velocity (wind speed); the density of the gas involved; energy content or wind energy. The wind is also a critical means of transportation for seeds, insects, and birds, which can travel on wind currents for thousands of miles.

In human civilization, the concept of wind has been explored in mythology, influenced the events of history, expanded the range of transport and warfare, and provided a power source for mechanical work, electricity, and recreation. Wind powers the voyages of sailing ships across Earth's oceans. Hot air balloons use the wind to take short trips, and powered flight uses it to increase lift and reduce fuel consumption. Areas of wind shear caused by various weather phenomena can lead to dangerous situations for aircraft. When winds become strong, trees and human-made structures are damaged or destroyed.

Winds can shape landforms, via a variety of aeolian processes such as the formation of fertile soils, such as loess, and by erosion. Dust from large deserts can be moved great distances from its source region by the prevailing winds; winds that are accelerated by rough topography and associated with dust outbreaks have been assigned regional names in various parts of the world because of their significant effects on those regions. Wind also affects the spread of wildfires. Winds can disperse seeds from various plants, enabling the survival and dispersal of those plant species, as well as flying insect populations. When combined with cold temperatures, the wind has a negative impact on livestock. Wind affects animals' food stores, as well as their hunting and defensive strategies.

The wind is caused by differences in atmospheric pressure which is mainly caused by temperature difference. When a difference in atmospheric pressure exists, air moves from the higher to the lower pressure area, resulting in winds of various speeds. On a rotating planet, air will also be deflected by the Coriolis effect, except exactly on the equator. Globally, the two major driving factors of large-scale wind patterns (the atmospheric circulation) are the differential heating between the equator and the poles (difference in absorption of solar energy leading to buoyancy forces) and the rotation of the planet. Outside the tropics and aloft from frictional effects of the surface, the large-scale winds tend to approach geostrophic balance. Near the Earth's surface, friction causes the wind to be slower than it would be otherwise. Surface friction also causes winds to blow more inward into low-pressure areas. Source Wikipedia.

Late last year, for the first time in my life, I joined a photo competition, an open category nation-wide one. I never expect to win anything. Very very tough challenge pitting my small simple point & shoot camera (a Canon A630) against those pro, semi-pro & serious hobbyists with their big powerful DSLR. The results were announced on 26th Feb this year. There were over 8000 entries for the open category and only 63 were selected as winners. Imagine my utter surprise and joy when against all odds, my photo won a Merit Award!

What did I won? Beside the glory, S$100 cash(cheque), a Nikon CoolPix L21, a certificate and a 5R photo of my entry.

I was not expecting to see such beautiful light this day. I wasn’t even prepared to do photography. So I ended up taking this image with my cinema lens instead.

Expect almost two hours of jousting, swordsmanship, thrilling hand-to-hand combat, displays of extraordinary horsemanship and falconry as part of an exciting yet touching story set in Medieval Spain.

I was expecting more fall colors than this so I tried to get more creative than usual. I've shot this falls several times before but never at this angle.

Ti ho atteso ancora, anche se non sei venuta per me.

Ho portato i miei sogni … si sono mischiati alla brezza

e cercano di raggiungerti.

Le luci si accendono e segnano una presenza;

La loro scia si inoltra nell’acqua.

noi ...

Possiamo sentirla, possiamo ignorarla …

ma non possiamo dimenticarla.

Ci si accorge sempre di te.

Sei un richiamo dell’anima,

sei la sera che conclude il giorno.

I expected you still, even if you did not come for me.

I brought my dreams ... they got mixed up in the breeze

and try to reach you.

The lights come on and mark a presence;

and we ...

Their wake it forward into the water.

We can pick it up, we can ignore it ...

but we can not forget it.

One always sees you.

You are a reminder of the soul,

you are the evening that concludes the day.

Rouen Armada is one of the largest free-admission maritime events in the world with over 10 million visitors expected. In June 2019, the event promises to be bigger and better than ever before as the Armada will be celebrating its 30th anniversary. Some 30 beautiful sailing ships from many countries will be berthed along the River Seine quaysides, from the Esplanade Saint-Gervais under the spectacular Pont Flaubert lift bridge to the Guillaume le Conquerant bridge upstream. In addition, there will also be several pleasure cruise boats, warships and even submarines to marvel at! Celebrating its 30th anniversary, this key event in the international sailing calendar will bring together visitors from near and far with thousands of French and foreign sailors from 6 to 16 June 2019. Over thirty magnificent tall ships, along with military boats and submarines from all over the world, will line Rouen's quaysides for ten days of celebrations, finishing with the parade along the River Seine. en.normandie-tourisme.fr/calendar-of-events/rouen-armada-...

Bloody Foreland - Brinlack, Gweedore, County Donegal, Ireland

Sometimes I get the feeling that no matter where in Donegal I travel to capture photos….. I’m carefully being watched 👀 Being followed by cows, sheep, goats & birds has become the norm for me. So expected that if I travel to a landscape and there are no animals gazing at me, I feel like there is something wrong or there’s a wolf hiding in the field or something 😂

After this photo was captured, I gave the cows a good auld pat on the nose and a hand full of freshly pulled grass as a thank you 🐮

I'm never quite sure what to expect these days as I hop on my bicycle for an evening ride. Riding gives me a much greater appreciation of the space in which I live. Makes me recall having the same feelings in my younger teens as I traversed the streets of my town by bike. I got to know every detail on every street. It's a much more intimate knowledge than you can ever develop driving in a car. Riding the bike, I slow down or stop wherever and whenever I please. I get to know the houses and yards that I pass, and the people I see out walking. It's all quite enriching. And if it stopped there, I would be fully content. But it does not stop there. At any moment, the familiarity of my surroundings can get upended by some jaw-dropping scene or situation. And it's almost always something that I would have been blissfully unaware of had I remained at home. This has become one of my photographer's mantras over the years. I've simply never taken a memorable photo from my easy chair.

The bike ride last evening is a case in point. Routine at first, but as I neared the local cemetery, this incredible sky came into view. For the umpteenth time this summer, I was faced with a scene that seemed completely implausible. One of those moments when I can't completely believe what I am seeing. I rode out into an open area, dismounted, and simply stood and gawked at the sky. Sunsets like this are dependent on the clouds to reflect sunlight even after the sun is below the horizon. It's a highly dynamic process as the clouds move as the sun dips ever lower. The colors actually deepen as the sky darkens. There is always a key moment when everything is in perfect balance. Last evening, this was that moment.

I was feeding the koi this afternoon when I noticed a large dragonfly circling around the pond. It is very unusual to see dragonflies around here this late in the season, so when it landed I ran inside and grabbed my camera, expecting it to be gone by the time I returned.. But it was still there, I think it was having trouble flying in today's strong wind and decided to stay put for awhile so I was able to take several shots of it. It is a male Shadow Darner (Aeshna umbrosa), and since dragonflies are my favorite insect I was thrilled to see this late season visitor. Best viewed Large. Backyard photography.

No whips, chains or handcuffs here - sorry to disappoint!

I was home on Sunday & the forecast was just dull but I thought I'd better get out for a blue hour shot I've been thinking of doing for a while near London Bridge before I forget what all the buttons & dials on the camera are for.

Twilight was just beginning & like a vampire or a hamster this is when I really get excited & start running around.

I wasn't expecting any colour but it started to kick off when I got near the river so I took a look here from one of my favourite nooks & crannies. Just managed to catch this unusual sky, The twinkly lights were coming on on Tower Bridge & London Bridge was turning orange - needless to say I was too late for the other shot.

I force myself to get out in London - I love to travel but don't we all think the other man's grass is greener & sometimes take things at home for granted????

Many Thanks to Everyone who took the trouble to view comment or fave :)

Last week we got called 3rd! Wow! Thank You! I wasn't expecting that at all and its the highest placing we have recieved in this competition so far. I hope that me and Xion can continue to be deliver good enough photos in order to stay in this competition!

So for this weeks theme we had to be 'Gaga 4 Gaga' which ment our models had to model fashions inspired by the legendary queen of pop, Lady GaGa! The insperation for my photo is this one; michaelpeck.files.wordpress.com/2010/04/lady-gaga-david-l.... Hopefully you can see the insperation I used! This theme was quite difficult actually and I spent alot of time doing Xion's hair (it took a lot of hairspray!) and making the newspaper outfit. Hopefully we fit the brief and hopefully we will get to stay another week in the competition!

Hope you like it! :)
