"Expect nothing, live frugally on surprise." Alice Walker

“Suffering has been stronger than all other teaching, and has taught me to understand what your heart used to be. I have been bent and broken, but - I hope - into a better shape.”

― Charles Dickens, Great Expectations

Sunday greeting for all my dear flickr friends

all over the world ...

A teenager played with fireworks, and the forest burnt. So the main attraction of the state was closed due to possible rock falls. They could have let us a few meters closer, but no.

This is fireweed that has started to bloom. It is a weed but also a very beautiful flower that is prevalent across Alaska. It blooms start from the bottom and ripple to the top. The saying here in Alaska is that when the fireweed is finished blooming we have three weeks until winter.

Taken 19 July 2022 at Homer, Alaska.

The sunrise never quite met our expectations on Sunday. I took a good number of shots, but they were just not what I was looking for.

We also had to cut our walk short due to a family emergency so we didn't get the chance to investigate properly either.

That being said, I do like this one (most likely as I still had hope at this point:o) and I do have a few others to play with that I took after realising that a spectacular sunrise was not on the horizon, quite literally.

This one will be a return visit at some point.

Set your sights high....the higher the better. Expect the most wonderful things to

happen, not in the future but right now. Let absolutely nothing dim the light shining from within your soul.
