A captive caracal at a sanctuary in Namibia. Animals that cannot be re-released into the wild have a permanent home. They go out for regular walks in a natrual environment and get exercise.
a.General observations are that my location is mainly flat, and has little water movement.
b.The water really doesn’t move in any particular direction in my model, because it is an extremely flat land, with mostly shrubbery, grass, wild weed, and some trees.
c.There are a few human structures around my location. There are apartment buildings about 50 yards north of my location, a parking lot about 100 yards east to my location, and an isolated house bordering the west boundary of my structure. The location of a parking structure probably affects the movement of my location somewhat, as closest land that would soak up any water precipitated on the parking lot is my location. The house really does not affect the movement of surface water as much, as it is on the same elevation as my location, but the apartment complex is on a slightly higher elevation (maybe just 2 feet), that would cause a slight build up of surface water in my location. However the shrubbery that is pressed up against the backside of the apartment complex would readily soak this extra water.
d.C,N, and P may enter this location through the atmosphere, but the likely hood is that the areas that are mowed have been treated with some sort of fertilizer which is how most of the nitrogen and phosphorous enters this ecosystem. Carbon enters this ecosystem mainly through the plants as the by-product of photosynthesis. But I think mainly C, N, and P mainly get carried to this location by rain.
e.I think water affects their location because water is what brings these elements primarily to these areas. I think they would be more heavily concentrated in the area’s where there is more shrubbery, and trees, because they have longer roots that are able to soak in these elements through water.
f.These elements can leave the environment and become unavailable for use by getting used up by the plants in the location. Also is there is a heavy rain that washes out a lot of soil, than the nutrients can leave through that.
g.The landscape features in my location very heavily imply that organism’s would be located in the middle of the location where there are more wild plant growth and trees, and the least human interference.
h.An example of how an organism might in return affect the abiotic factors is trees. As trees grow larger they can block sunlight, providing shade that can change the temperature range for other smaller plants. This limits the amount of photosynthesis that happens for other smaller plants.
