In the far detail, next to the top of the falls are two deer grazing, with one watching. I painted this mural in the hill country, and deer were everpresent. One day I returned from lunch to resume painting, and these two deer were on the front lawn in this same position. I ran inside and painted them before the image faded from my mind.
This Sandhill Crane (along with its everpresent mate) found this patch of creeping flowers particularly rewarding. Although wild, they are very used to people and not the least bit shy

The everpresent cold waters of the North Pacific Ocean eventually chills the bodies of the Moss Landing sea otters. To combat this cold the sea otters float on their backs and present as much of their body and appendages to the warming rays of the sun. Also the sea otters continually preen their fur to get the air back into their coat which keeps them warm while swimming. During this warming routine they sleep and eat. Sometimes other family members bring them food or they must interrupt their preening and warming to forage for their own food.
Separation anxiety is something that has been present in Drake's life, both in childhood and adulthood. Over the years, it has continuously come and gone, and has recently began significantly impacting his mental state.
Drake's first experience with separation anxiety occurred sometime after he made his first friend, Enzo, following 10 years of neglect from his parents and constant bullying from other children—both of which remaining everpresent throughout his teenage years. Drake's separation anxiety started mostly as strong feelings of nervousness, but gradually started resulting in panic attacks, intense self-deprecation, and guilt.
Lately, the source of Drake's anxiety has been his separation from his best friend, Robbie, along with feelings of guilt stemming from said separation. The two are each other's prime source of emotional support and happiness, given their close bond and deep emotional connection. Because of this, Drake feels guilty for not always having time to be there for his best friend. These feelings are only made worse when he sees how the separation has also been affecting Robbie, who often suffers from depression, anger, and intrusive thoughts of violence. Drake knows that Robbie could never resent him for his absence, but there are many times when he grows anxious over the thought of it. He knows it's unhealthy for him to cling so strongly to Robbie, and for Robbie to do the same to him, but still his anxiety consumes him, unwavering despite his self-awareness.
In short, he is going through withdrawal—for Robbie, the person that makes him feel the safest, and the one who understands him the most.
"Withdrawal" is essentially a vent piece for Drake; it expresses both the reality and the delusion of his anxiety. It is a mental process that he has to go through: the attack and the aftermath of the attack—the deafening, helpless, pleading thoughts, to the silent, safe reality that he has to get himself back to.

This week's share: green zucchini, yellow squash, beets (which I just roasted, together with last week's, woohoo!), chard, an enormous bunch of parsley, basil, cucumbers, carrots, radishes, turnips, and collard greens. Not to forget the everpresent lettuce mix!
So far: roasted beet salad.
The plan: jap chae with the zucchini, carrots, and beet greens (maybe some chard too). Tofu salad with the lettuce mix, part of the cucumber, and some radish. Parsley...well, I might make chimichurri, but welcome any suggestions because it is really a HUGE bunch.
My Uncle found this BB Gun of my dads when he was cleaning out a very old building at the Cadillac dealership. This had been laying undisturbed for 30 years.
