Teen finalists, Robert Irvine Jr. and Jaziele Cruz, compete for first place during the Military Youth of the Year Competition held February 8, 2017 at the Camp Zama Community Club. Local judges evaluated contestants on their leadership skills, public speaking, and interviews portions during the competition.
Irvine, a junior at Camp Zama High School and this year’s winner, will go on to compete at the regional level in Korea. The Pacific region’s winner will then go on to the National Military Youth of the Year competition in Washington, D.C., where participants will be in the running for a $20,000 scholarship.
The event also showcased musical performances from various Camp Zama high-school students and was sponsored by Child Youth Services and the Boys & Girls Clubs of America. (U.S. Army photos by Honey E. Nixon)

WESTERN PACIFIC (Aug. 15, 2015) Sailors evaluate a simulated patient during a mass casualty drill aboard the hospital ship USNS Mercy (T-AH 19) during Pacific Partnership 2015. Mass casualty exercises prepare medical personnel to handle a large volume of patients at one time and provide medical readiness to nurses and corpsman. Mercy is underway and en route to Vietnam for its fourth mission port of PP15. Pacific Partnership is in its 10th iteration and is the largest annual multilateral humanitarian assistance and disaster relief preparedness mission conducted in the Indo-Asia-Pacific region. While training for crisis conditions, Pacific Partnership missions to date have provided medical care to approximately 270,000 patients and veterinary services to more than 38,000 animals. Additionally, PP15 has provided critical infrastructure development to host nations through the completion of more than 180 engineering projects. Seniors who participated at the Tenth Annual Immigrant Day on May 22nd of 2006, met at the Korean Resource Center on June 2nd to evaluate the program and plan future activities. The photograph is Grandma Hee Bok Kim, who is teaching the "smile" song.
I'm making an effort to change all of the ladies' clothes for these evaluation photos, but, the fellas won't all be so lucky, because I have a woeful lack of good cloths for he little plastic men. I'll work on that, someday.

The (now I guess pretty old) Plasser Track Evaluation Car tests the Humber St bridge in Oamaru on its way south under what are now the official standard default east coast autumn weather conditions: warm, fine and no sun. Quite the grab shot while out shopping, seeing headlights and pulling a u-ey into this carpark. I wonder if the "3.5" graffiti and chipped bridge prompted the official clearance sign. 1 April (I pity the fool).
