The class entered was "Vintage Race Cars". Quite the most unusual vehicle in my estimation. I think the model name should be "type 2" or "transporter" but Combi and microbus are popular too.

I don't know the era of this vintage "Chessie" necktie. I love the kitten, but the wonderful graphics on the lining just puts it over the top, in my estimation.
A lucky find and a charming little railroad collectible. I was excited to discover it in a thrift shop here in Virginia.

This is my cat, Loki. He was named after the Hawaiian God of Mischief, mainly because as a kitten he fit the bill. He is, in my best estimation, at least 14 years old now and has the energy and motivation of a sloth....unless it is feeding time.
Imagine my surprise when walking into the bedroom today to find him attempting to .....um.....get a little randy with Kohl....who had a strange look of shock on her face as well! Normally he wants nothing to do with Kohl...she is the troublemaker in the family and he normally stays pretty far away from her...content to bond....um...not in the same randy way, purely platonic, with Aura...the younger sister of Kohl. She adores him and will sidle up next to him when he is sleeping and groom him!
I happened to be on the phone with my youngest daughter and mentioned the strange cat behaviors going on here, when she asked, “what’s happening!?” She then asked me how old Loki was ....and i told her that i thought at least 14. She pondered that a moment and then said, “Wow! He is the Hugh Hefner of cats, living with two younger and playful feline ladies! He must be very happy indeed! No wonder he rarely gets off the bed!” For a kid who gave me a run for my money when she was a teenager, she has turned into quite the hilarious young adult!
I suppose i should be looking for a smoking jacket for him, huh!
Today I went to the gym with a friend, looked around a few shops, sang in chamber choir and watched a free screening of Slumdog Millionaire. It's the second time I've seen the film, and my estimation of it has improved to a solid 7/10.

My vision of a new car with a look back to some 30's design cues. Bored from all the new look-alikes of luxurious coupes, I would list this car as a competitor to cars from Morgan and Bristol among other cars. The model is made out of cardboard paper, in 1:18 scale, with real life dimensions estimation of 480 x 195 x 135 cm and a wheelbase of 280 cm.

There are apparently many large linden trees within Styria, this one might be the highest and thickest i have seen at all?
No way to measure it, my rough estimation is around 35m of height, will try to get an improved estimation next time.
My ESTIMATION of greatest diameter is AROUND 2.8m ?, dbh = ??, got to measure.
Orangutans are highly intelligent with an ability to reason and think. This large, gentle red ape is one of our closest relatives, sharing 97% of the same DNA as humans. Indigenous peoples of Indonesia and Malaysia call this ape "Orang Hutan" literally translating into English as "People of the Forest". In times past they would not kill them because they felt the orangutan was simply a person hiding in the trees, trying to avoid having to go to work or become a slave.
Orangutans are unique in the ape world. There are four kinds of great apes: gorillas, chimpanzees, bonobos and orangutans. Only the orangutan comes from Asia; the others all come from Africa. There are two separate species of orangutan - the Sumatran orangutan (Pongo abelii) and the Bornean orangutan (Pongo pygmaeus)
The orangutan is the only strictly arboreal ape and is actually the largest tree living mammal in the world. The rest of the apes do climb and build sleeping nests in the trees, but are primarily terrestrial (spending their lives on the ground). Even the hair color of the orangutan, a bright reddish brown, is unique in the ape world.
The orangutan has the most remarkable ability to travel through the forest treetops. They make their home in these trees and build nests each night out of leaves and branches in the very tops of the trees.
This is where they live and sleep - sometimes as much as 100 feet above the ground. The orangutan has little need to come down from the trees, as they are uniquely adapted for their arboreal lifestyle.
Almost all of the food they eat grows in the treetops and the frequent rains fill the leaves thus supplying their drinking water. When water is difficult to get, they chew leaves to make a sponge to soak up water in tree cavities. When it rains very hard the orangutan makes an umbrella for himself out of big leaves. Many people are familiar with the studies that have shown chimpanzees using tools, such as termite-fishing sticks. Recent studies show that some populations of orangutans also fashion tools to aid in the difficult task of foraging for food.
Some might say orangutans have four hands instead of two hands and two feet. This makes them graceful and agile while climbing through the trees but it makes walking on the ground somewhat slow and awkward. That is why the orangutan is at a great disadvantage on the ground, and why the orangutan rarely comes down from the treetops. Their food is there, their home is there and they are safer there.
An orangutan's lifespan is about 35-40 years in the wild, and sometimes into the 50's in captivity. They reach puberty at about 8 years of age, but a female isn't ready for her own baby until she's in her teens.
The orangutan has the longest childhood dependence on the mother of any animal in the world, because there is so much for a young orangutan to learn in order to survive. The babies nurse until they are about six years of age. The young males may stay close by their mothers for a few more years but the females may stay until they are into their teens, allowing them to observe mothering skills as they watch their younger sibling being raised by the mother. Orangutan females only give birth about once every 8 years - the longest time between births of any mammal on earth. (This results in only 4 to 5 babies in her lifetime.) This is why orangutan populations are very slow to recover from disturbance.
Food is often scarce in the rain forest and that is why the orangutan is a semi-solitary creature. In times of great abundance of food, orangutans may use the opportunity to socialize and gather in small groups.
Their diet is made up of bark, leaves, flowers, a variety of insects, and most importantly, over 300 kinds of fruit. The mothers must teach the babies what food to eat, where to find that food, in which trees and during which seasons. It is thought that the orangutan must have a very detailed map of the forest in her mind, and detailed knowledge of the fruiting cycles of many species of trees. (This prevents wasting valuable energy searching for fruit trees randomly, and traveling to a certain fruiting tree whose fruits will not ripen for some time). The babies must eventually know hundreds of species of plants and trees, which ones are edible, and how to process them; some are very difficult to eat because they are protected by sharp spines and shells.
The throat sac is used to make a very notable and recognizable call that echoes through the forest. This is called the " Long Call" and is used to locate and advertise their presence to females or warn other males away.
Males often weigh over 200 pounds, where females are 1/3 to 1/2 his size
The males generally remain solitary until they encounter a female who is receptive to mating. They will stay with the female for several days to ensure a successful mating but will soon resume their solitary life. Due to their large size, males will more often travel on the ground than females.
Orangutans are one of the most critically endangered of the great apes, due to poaching and habitat loss. Based on the World Bank’s estimation that mechanized logging in the Kalimantan forest, (Indonesian Borneo), will result in its total loss by 2010, and other statistics stating that wild orangutans are disappearing at a rate of 2,000 orangutans per year, optimistic predictions give the orangutan ten more years before extinction in the wild

•Now about Madinaty land?
oMadinaty Land was allocated in whole and the contract was concluded before I was appointed Minister of Housing, but I believe that the Madinaty Contract is good for the country for several reasons, among which is; after the State allocated Madinaty land to Talaat Mostafa Group, it wanted to reform the financial balance of Arab Contractors so it decided to give 12000 to Arab Contractors to use it in the settlement of their accrued bank debts. I was not the Minister of Housing at that time but was the Minister of Tourism – and the State did not sell – but it was rather necessary that the Ministry of Housing performs an evaluation to his land (the 12000 feddans given to the Arab Contractors). The meter was estimated at approximately 45 Pounds after a year from Madinaty Land’s allocation to TMG, accordingly the meter price at Madinaty is 45 Pounds or less according to the estimation of the Arab Contractors land, and we have no interest from increasing or decreasing the meter price in this estimation, as Arab Contractors gets this land then transfers its ownership to the banks to clear its debts at the banks, therefore, there is no buying or selling.
•Why are you putting the land of Arab Contractors and Madinaty on the same level?
oI am using it as reference but there is no comparison between both.
•Was 45 Pounds per meter a fair price at that time?
oYes of course 500% fair. Don’t forget that the turnover that occurred in real estate prices was in 2006 after 2 years from the current ministerial formation when people started feeling that the growth is real and that there is a progression in the economy, so eye were starting to be on Egypt and the Stock Exchange started rising. The weird thing is that some people started to attack us for the increase in the prices of residential lands, while when the prices of agricultural lands and the stock exchange rose, no one objected. The price of lands starts increasing when the economic growth in the country is promising, consequently all assets start increasing, and no one can compare between the situation before and after 2006.
The guiding prices in Madinaty Land are the same of the Arab Contractors Land, so if one took 45 Pounds for the meter and imposed a 10% accumulative annual increase, we will reach the current price of 65 Pounds for the meter.
•But Hisham Talaat proposed to the Cabinet of Ministers after you became the Housing Minister in 2006/2007 with 65 Pounds for the meter to be paid in cash?
oWe made our calculations and told him “No, we want 165 Pounds in cash for the meter.” So he said no and told us to keep the 7% of Madinaty buildings. This percentage is now equal to 12 to 14 billion Pounds. Accordingly, the State benefited and it would have been a disaster had we sold the meter for 45 Pounds and took a 10% increase on the average rate every year.
•And why did you enter in what does not concern you?
oWhen I am a responsible minister, shall I say this matter does not concern me at all because it occurred before I became a Housing Minister or shall I talk!!?? I talked and said that Madinaty contract is a balanced contract because I am comparing it to what the land price was when the land was allocated.
•The whole problem is the direct commissioning of the land?
oDo not forget that in different development phases, different methods of merchandising are used, i.e. when a merchandiser starts a project in a new area (e.g. a mall) the merchandiser goes to a big company and offers a large area in the mall at a much lesser price then the one he sells at to the others. For example, the Governor of Dubai when he grants a villa worth 5 million Pounds to the British football player Beckham for free…. Does that mean that he is crazy and scattering money? No, he wants to merchandise and promote a project, and the equivalent to this villa is sold for 5 million Pounds after two years.
•Is Hisham Talaat specifically the only one capable to promote and merchandise this land?
oHe was selected based on the fact that two of the hugest projects known in Egypt at this moment are Al Rehab, therefore his precedents qualify him. When we look at the outcome to the State from the sale of the land to TMG, we find that this Group did was not freeze the land but established a huge city. This movement in the area that was not in New Cairo plans is what enables us to sell the meter close to Madinaty at 600 Pounds. The State benefited from Madinaty contract and people got jobs and Housing Units were made, so it is not possible to tell Talaat Mostafa that the price he bought the land at is 10% from the current land price.
•Why not say?
oEven if it is worth 1%...what is my concern? What is that weird thinking people are obsessed with to sell something but keep an eye on it!! The direct commissioning of the land to TMG is the way followed according to the law of the New Urban Communities Authority which is still existing and known as the Private law. And this is the reason behind the whole problem.
•What about the objection of the State Council?
oThe State Council believes that the issuance of law 89 of 1998 supersedes the Private Law. We do not make comments on the judicial system, but the Public Law does not supersede the Private law because there is no explicit provision to this effect. There is a controversy and there are judgments by the Court of Cassation to the contrary of the statements of the State Council. But we respect the law.
•Paper estimation does not supersede market estimation?
oWhen I was appointed minister in 2006, regardless of all these considerations, I said that the lands sold to the investors should not be subject to paper estimation; the estimation must be realistic and according to the market mechanism. And I said that we shall apply the bids and tenders system and decided to approve this system to the investors only, but a social price is set for the National Housing Project and other social project, governmental entities, unions and associations and lots, and I consider such price. I never confuse the social price and the land price to investors, however I was subject to criticism and cursing and people said that my bids increased the prices and that I am a rich minister and have no feelings for the poor.
•But you did cause the increase of land prices and all other prices?
oI wish. If it was in my hand to increase the prices everything, I would have been the richest man in the world.
•Do you believe that real estate prices in Egypt are fair?
oThere is nothing called fair or unfair prices. For example, my father left me a pen which I believe is worth a thousand Pounds because it belonged to him, but the real price of the pen is estimated at the highest price a person is willing to pay for this pen, regardless of emotions. There is no other definition. And any way or method of sale does not affect this. The wrong idea that bids increase the prices is a misunderstanding of the economic business and unfortunately, we hear this from people who supposedly know what economy is.
•Why did you resort to bids?
oIt is easy for NUCA, when there is no rising and the prices are stable, to form a committee and estimate the price; but in a growing market with high demand on the investment and changing prices from a week to another, we cannot rely on paper estimation or committees estimation, there has to be market mechanisms. But it is different when it comes to the social sale price of meter.

Freaking awesome! Chris has, in my humble estimation, another Capcon winner on his hands.
I chose this picture because it specifically shows some of his fine modeling and painting. Look at the dive brakes, which are plastic and not photo etch. And check out the markings, he painted them on! They look about as real as you get, and flawless.
This big beast took a while, but he is pleased.

A rough sleeper’s mucky foot sticks out from his bedding in a Victorian seating shelter on Hove’s elegant promenade. Affluence and poverty in close proximity is as old as the hills. Nevertheless I was struck by the juxtaposion with some of the richest addresses on the south coast which overlook this scene, where the streets are amongst the least deprived in England (IMD 2015). The term "thinking man's crumpet" was originally used in less PC times to describe the presenter Joan Bakewell - a lady of intelligence who was also easy on the eye. Her crown, in my estimation, now goes to curator of the Royal Palaces and TV presenter Lucy Worsley.
