Didi Hirsch volunteer Ester Bryant wore a photo of Amalia Magdalena who killed herself nearly two years ago. Bryant says she wore the photo to support fellow participant—and Magdalena’s daughter, Patty Soto—who hesitantly made her first public appearance as the survivor of a loved one’s suicide. Bryant is also a survivor of suicide; her son killed himself 14 years ago by sitting in an idling car in their garage.
