Animal life in the suburbs: We have a Canada Goose nesting in the courtyard adjacent to my window, right in the corner of the attached bldgs - a slight mound of dirt and grass is in that area which is perfect for nesting. It's relatively safe and secure and the parents can keep an eye on all who come and go from all directions while Mom is sitting on the nest. Saturday night at 2 AM honking began and lasted for about a 1/2 hour. Of course I stayed awake for quite some time, concerned and startled by the sudden honking when it was so quiet. I was thinking there might be a predator out there but couldn't see anything from my window. I was able to get back to sleep around 4 AM. Wondering if Mom was calling the Dad home so she could sleep or if Dad was yelling at something protecting his family. It's all kinda cool.
I call her Ester. :)
