The sport was created in Hungary in 2012 and the Federation Internationale de Teqball (FITEQ) was founded in 2017. The federation is aiming to have the sport recognised as an Olympic sport. The already have received recognition by the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) and the Association of National Olympic Committees of Africa (ANOCA).
