Presentation by environmental activist Ross Mirkarimi hosted by DERES and the U.S. Embassy Montevideo. DERES is a non-profit business organization that promotes corporate social responsibility (CSR) in Uruguay.

San Francisco District 5 Supervisor Ross Mirkarimi introduced legislation in 2007 that prohibits large supermarkets and drugstores from providing customers with non-biodegradable plastic bags, making San Francisco the first city to regulate such bags. Since then other cities around the country and in Europe have take up similar bans.

April 2021: While big environmental projects are good, sometimes a better approach is through education. Changing set living habits and protecting the environment were the goals of a series of environmental and education events dedicated to the All-Ukrainian Environment Day and the Day of Environmental Knowledge.

Residents of eastern Ukrainian towns, including students, activists, representatives of communal enterprises, and officials from local authorities took part in the events.

Activities included conducting a water quality analysis from a local water pumping station, planting trees, and cleaning public areas.

According to the United Drive-In Theater Owners Associations only 383 operating drive-in theaters are left in the U.S. The drive in was a cute and comfortable alternative to the movie theater when they first started popping up around the U.S. in the 1930s. This is a good medium between the large cineplex and staying at home. Patrons can stay in a familiar environment (their car) but get out of their homes and go out for the night.

Original sketch for Waste Lands, A4 paper (210 × 297 mm).

The main character walks alone in the environment and watches a world where changes just happens in the decay direction.

I was trying to depict a scene lost in a century that could be XVIII, XIX or XX. However, the scenario turns a bit in the apocalyptic direction: it could be related to a great war as well as a dystopian nightmarish future.

Just a small scene with more focus on plants and trees. This is bulid for the MMMM contest on LOWLUG. For this build I used a Magenta baseplate. Inspiration for this build came from the album cover of a Melodic Death Metal band called Black Forest with the album Dream.

T-shirts with a Cause

Saw these really cute t-shirts when I went shopping today. These are made with a blend 50% organic cotton, which was grown without pesticides and 50% recycled polyester, which was made from plastic bottles that might have otherwise gone into landfills. $1 from each t-shirt will be donated to the World Wildlife Fund. They should really consider making larger sizes because I barely fit into the Large size. :-P
