Detroit, MI, June 2013.

Title: Fred Temple, under arrest by and handcuffed to St. Thomas Police officers Harry McCart, left, and Thomas Rickwood, ca. 1934. Fred Temple, son of Frank Temple, 17 Queen St., St. Thomas, was later found guilty and hanged as an accomplice with his father Frank in the murder of St. Thomas Police officer Colin McGregor on May 7, 1934. Temple is still wearing a bandage on his neck where he was wounded in the gunfight that killed McGregor. This photograph was likely taken later in 1934 or early in 1935 while Temple was transported from jail to court. The name "C. Voaden" appears on the storage envelope and the photograph may have been taken by or copied for Carl B. Voaden, reporter for the London Free Press, St. Thomas Bureau. Scheduled for completion next spring, the new police station adjacent to the Timken Centre will officially be known as St. Thomas Police Services Headquarters — Constable Colin McGregor Building. City council unanimously endorsed the naming at a meeting on October 3, 2016.

test envelopes for our holiday cards this year.

Envelope that I made from a calendar page. Sent to a person in Belgium for a swap on Instagram.

My husband is a big fan of James Bond movies, and has a birthday coming in December. So I made this envelope for him and will have one of his birthday gifts in it. I made this from a calendar page. It is a scene from Dr. No, the first Bond film. Dr. No came out in 1962. I wouldn't be surprised if he likes the envelope better than the gift inside. My husband saves all of my handmade envelopes.

Origami envelopes with their matching notecards

I thought I had no lucky charms..I always think of myself as non superstitious...

...but that isn't true.

I sleep with a Chinese lucky red money envelope under my pillow that my Grandparents brought me back from Hong Kong containing a coin from the year of my birth (put there by Billy a week before I got pregnant), I wear my Nanna's gold cross everyday and I hold the Green Beret, Burma Star badges and pipe that I was given at my Grandfather's funeral as among my most precious possessions.

So today, for St Patrick's Day, I had plenty to chose from...

...and I chose to wear my female family history round my neck for just one day.

My crystal dummy, given to me last Christmas by my baby son.

My Mother's silver and gold ring, worn by her every day until she gave it to me whilst I was pregnant.

My maternal Nanna's gold cross, worn by her every day and left to me in her will.

My maternal Step Grandmother's wedding band, given to me after her funeral.

My paternal Grandmother's silver locket, left to me with a lot of her beautiful jewellery after her death (Grandma was Irish and, as it is St Patrick's Day, it feels especially fitting ;)

For today's FGR..."Lucky Charms"

and Theme Of The Week..."Fashionista!"

Based on a city centre building, but repeated and reduced to form an image using Italian Futurist techniques

Finally got these printed for use in my kits and swaps.

It's weird: my technique for decorating envelopes has not evolved one iota since making envelopes for my pen pals when I was a little kid. Just as chaotic, just as nonsensical. The only thing that's changed is I have more rubber stamps than I did then—more stamps period!

The leaves are from an exuberant Japanese (laceleaf) maple out front of our house: when lit by the sun, they're such a vivid wine red, they practically glow. It amazes me the leaves are that color all year long, but then my husband is the botanist, not me.

The map is of the North Polar regions: you can see the North Pole just over AJ's name on the front of the envelope. The beige-colored stars and other shapes are actually metallic gold, with a tiny texture—courtesy of Danielle, who didn't warn me about how hard that thin foil is to work with once you've removed it from the backing! =laugh=

Two sets of four different sizes/designs for the homemade envies swap on the Creative Correspondence group. The biggest (map) ones are 6" x 9".
