Handmade envelope decorated with rubber stamps that I received in an envelope swap. Sent to a participant in a handmade postcard swap.
It's weird: my technique for decorating envelopes has not evolved one iota since making envelopes for my pen pals when I was a little kid. Just as chaotic, just as nonsensical. The only thing that's changed is I have more rubber stamps than I did then—more stamps period!
The leaves are from an exuberant Japanese (laceleaf) maple out front of our house: when lit by the sun, they're such a vivid wine red, they practically glow. It amazes me the leaves are that color all year long, but then my husband is the botanist, not me.
The map is of the North Polar regions: you can see the North Pole just over AJ's name on the front of the envelope. The beige-colored stars and other shapes are actually metallic gold, with a tiny texture—courtesy of Danielle, who didn't warn me about how hard that thin foil is to work with once you've removed it from the backing! =laugh=

I wanted to try it, because I had enough flowers at home and already enjoyed them more than week (less guilty feeling to play and throw away later)
Gee, more difficult than I thought! Dry flowers break so easily and I had to use the vacuum cleaner every time I touch them.
I must say, her art is great and I won't try this again and just enjoy her Instagram.
According to an art teacher that I saw on Instagram, the artist should always leave some space for imagination. So I chose to do some collages with a story theme for an envelope swap. I'm sure that every person who sees these envelopes will have a different idea what the story on each envelope is about.

A wonderful pattern/tutorial by Amy (During Quiet Time). This was so much fun to sew! I added some crochet around the edge of the flap, and a crochet/button flower.

This is a real mixture of cultures! Today's date in Roman numerals, and a sheep because it is the Chinese year of the sheep.
On the back the stenciled characters wanted to act crazy, kick their heels up, do all those dancin' things they couldn't do on the front of the envelope. So I let them! And that's not cut off at the bottom: those characters were literally jumping off the edge. (Striped tape from Laughing Elephant.)

A common culture practice in Indian weddings, where people bless the bride & groom by gifting them money(this money which is gifted is called Shagun) in these type of designer envelopes.
