To me, food waste means a waste of money. As a first generation college student, I have worked two, sometimes three jobs, while enrolled full-time in order to fund my education. Whenever I see wasted food, I see money being thrown away. Money that could have been spent on books, tuition, car payments, rent, and other bills

Research at extreme altitude (HA) is made possible not only by the climbers but also by the incredible efforts of the porters who carry scientific equipment on their shoulders. Over six days of trekking to 5,300m, these porters are indispensable to the success of scientific missions. Without their dedication and hard work, such studies would not be feasible. This image captures a moment in the life of a porter, pausing briefly to rest at an altitude of 4,280m before continuing the challenging trek. To the right of the image, his backpack laden with 30 kilograms of equipment.
The reduced oxygen availability at altitude poses significant challenges to the human body. The increasing participation in mountaineering expeditions highlights the need to investigate physiological responses to HA. Our study focused on understanding the effects of HA on pulmonary, cognitive, and cardiac functions in eight female climbers (four Italian and four Pakistani).
