A new Identity
Wild still exists!
What once was, no longer looks as it did and what once was is no longer, but has become an enmeshment and a new wild.
In the primarily gridded layouts I tried to convey the concept of enmeshing within the space. Here, I did it by using primarily interior photos as the focus, and by using hierarchy of text size to draw the reader through the concepts behind the images.
can't you see the eyes, chins, noses, and lips on this? young and old features enmeshed...even the neck and shoulders exist to hold up the many personalities this one has.

This piece, titled "Silent Witness," captures the raw aftermath of an urban landscape engulfed in chaos. Viewed through the shattered window of an abandoned vehicle, the scene outside unfolds like a poignant story frozen in time. The central focus is on a motorcycle, crumpled and enmeshed with debris, lying at the foot of a flight of steps leading to what was once a grand building.
The composition of "Silent Witness" is intentionally framed to convey a sense of immediacy and intimacy, as if the viewer is peering into a moment of intense personal tragedy and resilience. The play of light and shadow across the scene adds depth and drama, accentuating the textures of the broken glass and the ruins beyond. The monochromatic palette enhances the somber, reflective mood, inviting the viewer to ponder the stories behind the wreckage.
This artwork speaks to the resilience of the human spirit in the face of destruction and the silent testimony of objects left behind. It evokes a powerful emotional response, drawing the viewer into the narrative and encouraging them to imagine the events that led to this poignant stillness.
"Silent Witness" is a compelling addition to any collection, offering not just a visual spectacle but also a profound commentary on loss, memory, and the enduring impact of urban conflict. Its evocative power lies in its ability to connect with viewers on a deeply personal level, making it a standout piece that resonates long after it is first seen.

The first recorded European carnivals date back to the late 11th century, a last chance for revelry and celebration before the Catholic prayer and fasting season of Lent, and are almost certainly descended from pagan festivals to banish winter and encourage the coming of spring. From Portugal to Russia, in the biggest cities and the remotest villages, the festivals have become deeply enmeshed in the local calendar and taken on their own local colour.

Last week, the Proctor's Office has raked up the matter of the gherao of the Registrar again, and sent showcause notices.
to 11 students (the 9 who were previously suspended, including the JNUSU President, General Secretary and Joint Sec-.
retary, GSCASH representative Pooja as well as two others - SLL&CS Councillor P. Kumar Mangalam and SSS student.
Bonojyotsna). These show cause notices inform that various charges stand "proved" against them during the Proctorial.
Enquiry into the gherao of the Registrar, and asks them to respond by June 15 why action not be taken against them..
.
The JNU Administration's move raises several questions:.
.
· In the first place, when the JNUSU and the UGBM have taken full collective responsibility for the incident of.
February 19, and have regretted it collectively, and also rejected any witch-hunt by way of Proctorial Enquiry,.
why is the JNU Administration bent on targeting individual activists and elected JNUSU Office bearers?.
.
· WHY has the JNU Administration chosen the summer vacation to issue show cause notices to students - know-.
ing full well that students are likely to have gone home, while research scholars among them are on field trips or.
in the middle of completing their dissertations? Isn't the `show cause' a mere meaningless formality, given that.
many of the students are not even on campus to receive them or respond to them? Since when is it the practice to.
hand out show causes and punishments during the vacations? Why did not the Administration issue these notices.
during the working semester? Why not wait for the monsoon semester to raise the issue again, if at all necessary.
to do so?.
.
· It is quite clear that the intention of students on February 19 was not vandalism or violence; rather they.
were raising the valid issue of violation of workers' minimum wages on campus. This issue remains a.
burning issue: construction workers are still paid far, far below the minimum wage; the Administration has.
issued circulars declaring minimum wages for mess workers, and this is welcome, but even now there are reports.
of violations. Further, there is ample evidence on record, of JNU Administration's representatives having.
signed on contracts in the past where the wages cited are below the minimum wage. How come there is no.
attempt to fix responsibility for these deliberate and illegal violations, and take action to ensure that the.
same does not continue? There has been a recent case where JNU's Chief Security officer has been involved.
in beating up and caste abuse of a young contract worker - again, it was students who brought the issue to light.
and ensured that a complaint was filed with the Equal Opportunity Office. The JNU Administration seems to be.
trying to silence the students' struggle on workers' rights by enmeshing them in various charges pertaining to the.
February 19 case..
.
· For three years, the JNU Administration's Harjeet Singh Committee, set up to look into the large-scale open violence.
and mayhem by ABVP goons during the Public Meeting by SAR Geelani, failed to submit any report, let alone.
recommend any action against the lumpens. Note that the ABVP always welcomed the Proctorial Enquiry in the.
February 19 incident from day one. While these ABVP goons as well as JNU Administration's own officials.
involved in scuttling workers' legal wages and massive corruption in construction activities can rest assured.
that the Admin. will never investigate their misdeeds, students who stood up for workers' legal rights are.
being targeted with unseemly haste, right in the middle of the summer vacations, when may of them are.
not even present on campus to defend themselves..
.
The JNU Administration's move reeks of revenge against the student movement. The entire JNU student community in.
JNU's best democratic tradition, deliberated on the whole issue in a UGBM, and arrived at a mature position - regretting.
many aspects of the February 19 incident, but upholding the students' initiative on workers' rights, and firmly rejecting.
any individual targeting for a collective protest. The UGBM mandated the JNUSU to take full responsibility for the.
protest led by them, and firmly voted against any continuation of the Proctorial witch-hunt to target individual ac-.
tivists. Now, the JNU Admin's move to continue to `enquiry' and arbitrarily charge individual activists and elected.
JNUSU office bearers is an attempt to bring the University once again to a boil, and destroy any atmosphere where.
the issue of workers' rights or scams in construction activity on campus may be taken up meaningfully..
.
AISA appeals to the JNUSU, in its Council Meeting tonight, to convey in no uncertain terms to the JNU Administration.
that such high-handedness will not be tolerated. JNUSU must lead a united and determined struggle against the Ad-.
ministration's assault on students, and challenge the Administrative nexus with the contractor-corporate regime.
that is bent on flouting the minimum laws relating to workers' wages and rights..

Enmeshment!
What has become, is all we now have and requires our protection. Wild now exists, in as much as, we value what it means to us and what it has become. The clay sculpture was crushed around the bird to demonstrate this idea.
Little-known history. The U.S. Army in Russia in 1918. They were actually enmeshed in the Russian Bolshevik Revolution. These soldiers, including this gentleman from Michigan, fought in Siberia. The U.S. Army finally left in 1920, but about 420 American soldiers did not return. They were killed in combat or froze to death.
