The blue Helix Bridge designed by Marcus Taylor is one of a number of innovative bridges incorporated into the regeneration of Paddington Basin. The distinctive feature of the Helix Bridge is that it retracts by rotating like a corkscrew.
On a site of a roadbed extent 20,76м on aerial image we have revealed change of the sizes of a track that is connected with linearly-vortical structure fields of stresses and deformations!

A short drive from the Kelpies took us to see the Falkirk Wheel. A couple of weeks before, we had spent a weekend on a canal boat on the |Llangollen Canal. After manoeuvring Welsh canal locks and swing bridges, the Falkirk Wheel was a must-see destination.

Just as the Anderton Boat Lift near Northwich lifts canal boats from the River Weaver Navigation to the Trent & Mersey Canal The Falkirk Wheel serves a similar purpose but in a different way. My photos show the Wheel in operation at different stages of a lift operation.

The view east into Paddington Basin from "Stations Bridge" (2004) by artist designers Langlands & Bell. The building on the left is "The Point" (a 10 storey office block) by architect Terry Farrell who was also the masterplanner for the regeneration of the whole Paddington Basin area. The buildings in the background are part of St.Mary's hospital which dominates the south side of the basin.
