Engaging harvest mouse photographed at British wildlife centre, Surrey, UK

Fog, mist and rain blankets this Australian bush scene on Mt. Erica.

“The fog is a magician who performs the art of erasing things without actually erasing them!”

A familiar path is like an old friend who welcomes you back, to enjoy another moment together. There is an association that although commonplace, is beyond the recognized and more engaging.

Trekking nature's pathways may divulge different opportunities given our various seasons. It is another reason to enjoy the familiar while experiencing the changes that unveil new opportunities.

Did I mention she took my guns away! AGAIN! I think she's trying to tell me something?!?

Engaging return to this Alpine valley after seven months.

The last snowfall in April still left pleasant traces on the higher peaks and north-facing slopes.

All the meadows are richly coloured with flowers and are a joy to behold.

It was the perfect time to walk along the waterfront, there was a nice atmosphere, people chatted on the edge of the pier, someone prepared the take-off of a small paper balloon, many took photos of the boundary between sea and sky, with the light fading gently second by second. A ritual full of harmony and engaging aspects, was already a beautiful summer evening.

Forest Tent Caterpillar Moth, Malacosoma disstria, one above and one below the leaf. Reminded me of that engaging but creepy US TV series about another world connected to ours, but somehow upside down.

Perhaps they had something to tell him.

Teach him?

Perhaps an old recollection long forgotten...

... on purpose.

Pausing, and turning his head,

He entertained momentarily engaging them.

But something halted him from the inside of his chest.

Moving on... He'll never know.

And he'll have to be okay with that.

“The two most engaging powers of a photograph are to make new things familiar and familiar things new.”

– William Thackeray

My mother-in-law was a collector of antiques, both large and small. Whenever I take out a container of her antique perfume bottles, I find myself wondering where those items were before I held them in my hands.

By adding a bit of color behind the cut glass and capturing the reflected light, it gives me yet another opportunity to silently thank her for sharing her treasures.

Sorry, I'm on a bear roll right now so bear with me.

After engaging in a very successful pollen-gathering session, a bee cautiously emerges from the bright flower of a Prickly Pear cactus (Opuntia sp.) in the Sonoran Desert, Santa Rita Experimental Range, Arizona. As I sat there with the camera, it really did appear to be watching me, gauging the level of risk that I might pose. Once I was deemed suitably harmless, or maybe it got desperate?, it was off to another destination.

Thank you to Les Brumes for her wonderful textures and huge thanks to my dear friend Lynn for her help with the texture education - :))))

Codibugnolo simpaticamente arruffato.

Better in large view.

I found his dark face to be really unusual and his eyes are so very penetrating. There are less than 500 Sumatran tigers left in the wild and they are considered to be critically endangered. What a beautiful, powerful, majestic animal. This photogenic fellow was seen at the Downtown Aquarium in Denver.

“Perlan – the Pearl – is an immersive museum that showcases Iceland’s extraordinary landscapes and nature in an accessible and engaging way. Its impressive hands-on, interactive exhibits and shows explain the country’s landforms, geology and wildlife. State-of-the-art technology elevates Perlan from an ordinary museum to one that guests will find innovative and memorable.

Alongside a fascinating display that focuses on the characteristics of Iceland’s changing glaciers, visitors can step into a hundred-metre-long artificial ice cave. An estimated 350 tons of snow gathered from Icelandic mountains were used in its construction. In graphic contrast, the museum’s Forces of Nature exhibit addresses the country’s volcanic systems and geothermal activity.

Styrmir, the museum’s spectacular indoor geyser, shoots a jet of water 25 metres into the air through the central atrium.

In Perlan’s domed 150-seat planetarium, the spotlight turns to the Aurora Borealis. Utilising 8K projection and 7.1 surround sound, the breathtaking Áróra show takes guests on a spellbinding journey through the origins and legends associated with the Northern Lights, bringing it vividly – and reliably – to life.

Perlan’s striking architecture adds an extra dimension to a visit. Located on Öskjuhlíð, the tallest hill in Reykjavik, it’s an easily recognised landmark, comprising six water tanks that support a glass dome which floods the interior with light. The museum’s wraparound observation deck offers an uninterrupted 360° panorama of the Icelandic capital and its surroundings.

Perlan represents Iceland in a nutshell. As such, it makes an ideal first or last stop on every tourist’s itinerary, whether they plan to venture beyond Reykjavik or choose to remain in the capital.”

The engaging - and frequently enraging - metalwork of M. T. Liggett is part art, part agitprop. Decades in the making, Liggett's extensive collection of metal whirligigs and totems lines his property outside Mullinville, Kansas. Hundreds of pieces reflect a singular view of life and politics, local, national and global, and depict (some would say skewer) the likes of tomato- and squash-bodied flower children, school board members and all manner of Mullenville's "elitist bourgeois." Front and center, however, are a jack booted Hillary Clinton, goofy Al Gore, President Rush, King George, a headless Laura Bush, and a call to "Elect Ted Kaczynski." There's hearts and love here, too, if you're looking.

For much more info, just google M. T. Liggett.

Pigmy or Dwarf Green Stripe Bamboo, Pleioblastus viridistriatus

This is such and interesting plant. It has a lot of texture, so it does not give off a shine because it doesn't have a smooth finish. So it has a kind of matte effect, soft watercolor effect naturally. The lucent leaf edges give off light. The leaves are textured with vertical translucent veins that add to the luminous quality of the plant. Between each vertical line, all the up and down the leaf, are tiny hairs that result in a look of flag-shaped rectangles. The entire effect of this texture is that is that it has the look of a woven textile. The genteel green stripes and shadings look like they have been lovingly brushed on to each leaf. Finally, easily overlooked are the very cute tiny pink tips. The growth habit is random with the leaves criss-crossing. The wind was blowing them around. In a grouping they have a delightful chaotic appearance. A joyous sight, I couldn't take myself away from them.
