'Power Of Energetic Morning Light' - [Special Series: 'Twilight Photography'.. ]

It´s one of this a moment that takes your breath away, a sunrise as out of a book of fairytales on a island in Thailand. It´s early in the morning and I´m sitting with my digicam in the sand, feel the pinch from the sea, freshness of morning. My eyes are see the golden world and clouds as plastic arts. A casual acquaintance fisher came along. It´s not a dream.. wow, what a fantastic morning! I whish you all same great moments!

Jaromír Jágr (born 15 February 1972) is a Czech professional ice hockey right winger and owner of Rytíři Kladno of the Czech Extraliga. He previously played in the National Hockey League for the Pittsburgh Penguins, Washington Capitals, New York Rangers, Philadelphia Flyers, Dallas Stars, Boston Bruins, New Jersey Devils, Florida Panthers and Calgary Flames, serving as captain of the Penguins from 1998-2001 and the Rangers, between 2006 and 2008.

After leaving the Rangers in 2008, he played three seasons in the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL) with Avangard Omsk. He returned to the NHL in 2011 with the Flyers and remained in the league for seven more years before being assigned by the Flames in 2018 to HC Kladno. Having played in 37 professional seasons (as of 2024) and over 2,000 professional games, Jágr has had the longest playing career in professional ice hockey history. He is the most productive European player who has ever played in the NHL and is widely regarded as one of the greatest players ever.

Jágr has the second-most points in NHL history, after Wayne Gretzky. In 1990, at age 18, he was the youngest player in the NHL. Until his transfer, at age 45, he was the oldest player in the NHL and is the oldest player to record a hat-trick. In 2017, Jágr was named one of the 100 Greatest NHL Players in history.

Jágr was the fifth overall selection in the 1990 NHL entry draft. He won consecutive Stanley Cups in the 1991 and 1992 seasons with the Penguins. Individually, he has won the Art Ross Trophy as the NHL scoring champion five times (four times in a row), the Lester B. Pearson Award for the NHL's outstanding player as voted by the NHL Players' Association three times, and the Hart Memorial Trophy as the league's most valuable player once, in 1999, while finishing second four times.

Jágr is a member of the Triple Gold Club, individuals who have played for teams that have won the Stanley Cup (1991, 1992), the Ice Hockey World Championships (2005, 2010) and the Olympic gold medal in ice hockey (1998). Jágr is one of only two Czech players (the other being Jiří Šlégr) in the Club, achieving this feat in 2005. Jágr was the Czech Republic's flag bearer at the 2010 Winter Olympics. Jágr is also one of only three players from 1981 to 2001 to win the Art Ross Trophy as the leading point-scorer during the regular season; the others are Wayne Gretzky and Mario Lemieux. Jágr has won the award more times than any other non-Canadian player. He has been a member of the Czech Ice Hockey Hall of Fame since 2008 and the IIHF Hall of Fame since 2024.

Edward, the southern white rhino calf at the San Diego Zoo Safari Park, experienced another “first” today (Aug. 19, 2019) when he was able to explore a new area at the Nikita Kahn Rhino Rescue Center with his mom, Victoria. The young calf and his mom were given access to the main exhibit yard and took full advantage of the larger space, running around the perimeter at a fast pace. It was mom and calf’s first day out of the maternity yard and other off-exhibit areas since the calf was born 22 days ago. sdzoo.com/RhinoRacing

We all know bubbles from soapy baths or sodas. These bubbles of everyday experience on Earth are up to a few inches across, and consist of a thin film of liquid enclosing a small volume of air or other gas. In space, however, there are very different bubbles – composed of a lighter gas inside a heavier one – and they can be huge.

The galaxy NGC 3079, located about 67 million light years from Earth, contains two “superbubbles” unlike anything here on our planet. A pair of balloon-like regions stretch out on opposite sides of the center of the galaxy: one is 4,900 light-years across and the other is only slightly smaller, with a diameter of about 3,600 light-years. For context, one light year is about 6 trillion miles, or 9 trillion kilometers.

The superbubbles in NGC 3079 give off light in the form of X-ray, optical and radio emission, making them detectable by NASA telescopes. In this composite image, X-ray data from NASA’s Chandra X-ray Observatory are shown in purple and optical data from NASA’s Hubble Space Telescope are shown in orange and blue.

New observations from Chandra show that in NGC 3079 a cosmic particle accelerator is producing ultra-energetic particles in the rims of the superbubbles. These particles can be much more energetic than those created by Europe’s Large Hadron Collider (LHC), the world’s most powerful human-made particle accelerator.

Recently, partly due to the shutdown in IL, I spent too much time in rageful demonstrations, and too little time taking photos of children full of life

The Children, by: Yehuda Amichai

Every day the children run on the playground.

With the movements of their little legs, they rotate

the planet like in a circus,

they want to be acrobats and magicians.

Every night the children thank us for having brought them

into the world. With beautiful politeness, they raise themselves

in their beds and with tiny future arms

they cling on a stiff-neck, the longing

of their parents are their toys.

Then they lie on their backs

like ceiling painters of prayer-houses

and paint for themselves beautiful skies.

I open the window:

All the outer space passes through the room

and I forgive then to my parents that made me.

I sit next to the children until they fall asleep

and I say seven times

as the closing prayer of Yom Kippur:

“I am not God”,

seven times,

I am not God.

It's been hot so these bursts of crazy energetic play are short, but FUN! :) Then they 'drag the chain' a bit on the way home :)

The Fighting Dragons of Ara ( NGC 6188 )..

Bright Nebula NGC 6188 and open cluster NGC 6193 are embedded 4,300 light years away in the Sagittarius arm of our Milky Way galaxy and can be seen with the naked eye south of Scorpius in the constellation of Ara.

With powerful stellar winds and energetic ultra-violet radiation, massive stars sculpt the interstellar gas and dust of the nebula into wonderful shapes and cause the interstellar gas to brightly fluoresce.

Closer to the hot young stars of the cluster, bright blue “sunlight” reflects off the clouds of gas and dust to produce the blue reflection nebulae seenin the image.

Tiny and energetic, these active songbirds are found across the continent. Corkscrew.

These little guys are definitely full of energy.... amazing just watching them interact in their natural environment.

Sanderlings are small energetic wading birds. They seem to be in perpetual motion, always running along the beach after a receding wave to pick up stranded invertebrates or to probe for prey hidden in the wet sand.

Not surprising then that after a busy morning feeding they like nothing better than a spot of beach yoga!

Apparently, the classic stretching of one leg and one wing on the same side of the body resembles something from yoga called 'mantling', which, come to think of it, is also the term used to describe a bird of prey spreading its wings over a recent kill.

Anyway, after a quick search I have not been able to find out specifically why Sanderlings attend these beach yoga classes, although it seems clear that spread-wing postures help wing feathers to dry and also help to realign feathers forcing parasites into motion which of courses eases their removal. In some birds they can also help regulate body temperature and, presumably like any good yoga class, can also help to release tension and restore a feel good factor.

Spending an hour or two at the beach photographing these beauties is all the yoga I need .... although I must admit my back still hurts when I try to pick myself up off the floor!

Taken at North Beach, Fort De Soto, Florida back in 2016.

As always, thank you so much for stopping by and for leaving any comments or faves, they are very much appreciated.

Tiny! Energetic! "The energetic Blue-gray Gnatchatcher rarely slows down, fluttering after small insects among shrubs and trees with its tail cocked at a jaunty angle.
