A Timeline Events photo charter inside Didcot Railway Centre

The ruins of the Roman fort at Hard Knott in the Lake District is a very evocative place. It is now manned by Herdwick Sheep rather Roman soldiers. It's hard to imagine this place being a very popular posting especially in the winter months.

This is my favorite Italian time. The locals come together at the end of the afternoon, the town is becoming alive again after the siesta. Really love to be there at that time and watch......

I know the end is near

The television tellin' lies

I know for sure the

Revolution won't be televised

I know that we been waiting

Patiently for better times

We fell asleep, and men are blind

Can't recognize it's genocide

Feel like the bomb about to

Drop out of the clouds

Another virus goin' airborne

Go hide inside your house

Farmers watching crops die

They drying up with droughts

Angry people forming crowds and try

To burn the cities down this is Armageddon

Martial law for our protection

I talked to God but it's long

Distance and I lost reception

Forest fires and oil spills

Are the awful lessons

I'm just waiting for the devil

To take over heaven

This is biblical, I swear it's in the Bible

We keep killing one another and

We dyin' for survival

We used to fight for peace

Put flowers in their rifles

Now we're 'bout to be extinct, every man

Woman and child

If it's the end of the world

I will do better next time

Oh yeah, I know it yeah, I know it

If it's the end of the world I know that

I have lived my life to the fullest

"The End" by Kings of Leon

The remains of a Manzanita tree nestled amongst the sage and wild buckwheat in the Los Padres National Forest, Ventura County backcountry.

The end of the world might look like this, and wouldn't that be beautiful?

Another Hayman burn picture. This is a panorama made from 10 other photographs. Interestingly, when these pictures were taken, I never planned on putting them all together. I did not even know what a panorama was.

The land ends here? Not quite. Defiant stacks tower above the swell. Still connected via unseen rugged terrain beneath the surface.

Autumn officially began September 23 here and there was also a full moon that night. I hoped it would rise above this lake but I was off by a bit, and caught it a little way down the road.

At summer's end you need to put your leisure craft to sleep for the winter. This involves quite a bit of time, depending on the size and type of boat. It looks like this person is perhaps putting his/her sailboat to sleep.

Low sun on my afternoon walk.

Sometimes images and words reach you

that entail a complex closing mechanism.

The doors close, clack, clack, clack, one after the other, the windows close, the roller shutters rattle down, keys turn in the lock. The hut is sealed.

'Klappe zu, Affe tot' is a saying in Germany.

End of the story

I simply can't take any more.

Dried hydrangea blossoms add winter interest while they recall summer's beauty.

I'm back from a soggy weekend of camping! Well I guess it was only Friday night and Saturday that rained - but wow did it really rain!!

The 2010s have seen most remaining end-cab switchers purged from Class I rosters, with few exceptions. Two that have survived rest in the former Soo Line/Wisconsin Central yard at Stevens Point. The unit on the left is also the first and likely only WC painted engine I'll ever shoot with a digital camera. WC SD45s showed up back home in Pennsylvania all the time in the early 2000s, but CN made quick work of purging most of the WC roster within a few years after taking over.

I guess you knew this was coming...
