On a typical Saturday these parking spaces fill rapidly as people visit Prohibition Bistro for Italian food and drink. This Saturday the only cars were those of the reduced staff of workers and customers who came to collect their take-out orders.
I have mixed feelings about this scene. I am glad to see that people are following the concepts of social distancing and self-isolation. I miss the vibrancy of the street activity, worry about these small businesses and their workers, and, like everyone else wonder when and if life will return to normal.

To be honest, Eastern Market on a late Sunday afternoon with Stay-at-Home orders isn't much different than Eastern Market on any other late Sunday afternoon.

No hay duda de que la vida nocturna de Sorrento está un poco alicaÃda. Supongo que por la lluvia inmisericorde que ha caÃdo durante todo el dÃa. Lo siento por los dueños del local que lo estarán sufriendo, pero la escena tal como está tiene algo hipnótico: las sillas azules vacÃas, el scooter turquesa, la luz cálida del interior. TodavÃa no he cenado y busco un sitio donde saborear un buen plato de pescado. Pero si ya hubiera cenado, no habrÃa podido resistirme. Me habrÃa sentado ahà mismo a romper la simetrÃa de la soledad con un limoncello sorrentino.

There's no doubt that Sorrento's nightlife is somewhat subdued. I suppose because of the pitiless rain that's fallen all day. I feel for the establishment's owners who must be suffering, but the scene as it stands has something hypnotic: the empty blue chairs, the turquoise scooter, the warm light from inside. I haven't eaten yet and I'm looking for somewhere to savour a good fish dish. But if I'd already dined, I couldn't have resisted. I'd have sat right there to break the symmetry of solitude with a Sorrento limoncello.
