I have been taking a break from making my little critters as they are overrunning the house. This is a little different from me - an hand embroidered tree which has over 400 French knots in different shades of pink.

I am rarely this organized, but look how pretty my embroidery floss looks! yea!

Another of Niqui's crafted creations. She's really into the hand embroidery now.

Hikikomori is a Japanese word word meaning a total withdrawal from society and seeking extreme degrees of social isolation and confinement. The word seemed perfect for the brown recluse spider.

I've been collecting and working on these felt embroidery kits from the 1970's. Once I get them all finished, I'm planning on framing them and grouping them all together hanging on a wall. More info to come on the blog. (this one started it all... I purchased it completed from an antique store)

More experimenting with embroidery. This is very simple. Just backstitch and sort of sashiko style for the spots on the body.

I got too into making the tiniest stitches possible before I realized it actually didn't look that good and made the lines look really wobbly. Oops! Oh well. ^o^

This one is probably my favorite - I love those curls and the delicate decorative frame.

Dear Partner,

Tonight I finished my embroidery panel for you sewing machein cover. It's mostly in backstitch, with a fair amount of satin stitch and a few bits of chain stitch, lazy daisy stitch and french knots.

I really hope you like it. If you don't then I will have to go back to the drawing board very quickly, because I need to finish it up and ship next week!

This is the first block I received in a round robin. I hope Jane likes what I did and yes I did the tatting.

Amid quiet shadows, the red headdresses and each stitch whisper the stories of their ancestorsIn the dim glow of the room, three Red Dao women dedicate themselves to the meticulous art of embroidery. This quiet yet profound labor carries the memory and spirit of their community. For a Red Dao woman, the greatest treasure she brings to her husband’s home is the traditional costume lovingly created by her mother over many years. Each stitch, each motif is not merely decoration, but a message of love—a timeless bond that connects family traditions with the enduring identity of their people.

This one's a different embroidery style than I usually do, but I've always wanted to try out some redwork.

I really enjoyed stitching this piece of textured embroidery.

I also loved looking for bits and pieces to include in it such as beads, buttons, sequins and different threads. There's even a section of copper pipe in there. I've added a note to show where it is.
