Active Assignment Weekly Dec 27-Jan 3: Resolution
Assignment:
It’s time to finish off 2010 and boldly start 2011. One of the big things for the beginning of a new year is making resolutions. Your assignment is to capture the essence of a New Year’s resolution.
I am convinced that drinking water and staying hydrated will aid in most of my resolutions, including: getting more active, start running again, lose 10 pounds (just 10! please), feeling healthier, being happier, and saving money!
WIT: I set the glass with the window in the background to get a play of light in the glass and water. It is also lit from the left by natural light from more windows. I increased saturation slightly and increased contrast and used a high pass filter to sharpen the image a bit (newly learned from Popular Photography magazine).
INGREDIENTS
30 mL, Waxwing dry gin
15 mL, Cointreau
5 mL, Chartreuse
5 drops, orange blossom syrup
2 rosemary sprigs
Ice (optional)
Tonic water (optional)
HOW TO MAKE IT
Place one sprig of rosemary at the bottom of a glass and pour the dry gin over it. Let it infuse for 60 seconds. Then, add the Cointreau, Chartreuse and orange blossom syrup and stir. Garnish with the second rosemary sprig.
Alternative:
Place one sprig of rosemary at the bottom of a glass and add a handful of ice. Pour the dry gin while stirring. Then, add the Cointreau, Chartreuse and orange blossom syrup and stir again. Top up with tonic water and garnish with the second rosemary sprig.

Nature has its own music, which modern people often cannot and do not hear. I wished to portray how just listening to a wind blow or a bird chirp has curative qualities that modern people, with their ears always plugged up to their own worlds, cannot discover.
