Jerome was a very large mining town. It's also a great example of greed and not using common sense. The company that owned the mine sug so many tunnels in the mountain that the town began to slide down the side of Mingus Mountain. The mine closed and the town all but died. A few people live there now. It has turned into an artist colony. It's growing in popularity with tourists now and is beginning to be repopulated. The problem is, the town is still sliding.
