My daughter Ivy. She really is part Indian -- her great-great-great-great grandmother was one of the Choctaws who were "persuaded" to move from Mississippi to Oklahoma in the "Trail of Tears" fiasco of the early 1800s.

KD5ITM was the guy's handle. I can't remember his name, but he was very nice and happy to explain what was going on. But he was also kind of weird. I've met several ham radio enthusiasts, and they're all a little off-kilter. I guess I would fit right in! Where do I sign up?
All the elementary school kids walk to school in the town of Sanyo Onoda. They are observed by volunteer parents and often shepherded by an older child with a flag.
The late C19th/early C20th Elementary School bears plaques showing that it was funded from the William Jones foundation. It also shows a striking architectural resemblance to the mid C19th buildings of Monmouth School, with its hewn old red sandstone block walls and bath stone stringers. This shot shows an interior from the 1906 extension.
The elementary school is now part of Monmouth Comprehensive School.
Sadly, this building was demolished in 2016 (I think) to make way for major overhaul of the comprehensive. Amazingly, it could not have had listed status. Arguably, the comprehensive school could have been located to the other end of town (Overmonnow) where vast housing estates, and the families living therein, have sprouted up in recent years. An opportunity missed?

From playing school with my siblings as a young girl to building personal relationships with my own teachers, I have always known that my purpose in life is to grow up to become a teacher. I currently am an early childhood education major and I love it so much. Every day I know that I am doing what I am supposed to be doing and that brings me so much joy and comfort. Within my major we have had to be placed within different classroom settings for different classes. That is when I took this picture. I took this picture in a kindergarten class and after working in this classroom I knew that I wanted to teach younger ages such as kindergarten and first grade. Every day I go to my classes and wake up knowing I am doing what I want to and what will make me happy for the rest of my life. I chose this major and I will follow through with it. I will create the life that I have always wanted for myself.

More than 700 fourth and fifth graders from four school districts in San Joaquin County converged on the Stockton campus of University of the Pacific for the sixth annual Math Steeplechase. They were split into teams of five to six students each and each team had to solve six complex mathmatical problems with only 10 minutes per problem. The best scoring teams and schools received trophies. It wasn't all just math. Students also were taken on a scavenger hunt on campus and also played games with Pacific athletes.
