Came to pick up my kid after soccer practice. The schoolyard sunlight filters through the trees; everyone has gone home; only a warm silence remains. An empty bench, the long shadows of late afternoon — the day's last quiet, just before the world stirs again.

that was the name of my bike. I believe this was the day I learned how to ride without training wheels. it was in my super-priss phase, as evidenced by the fact that I wore a dress to learn to ride a bike.

I absolutely love taking walks up here. It's so pretty just about as the sun is going to set. I'm so happy that it's a 4 day weekend. I couldn't be anymore relieved.

What a beautiful school and great location next to a fancy shopping mall. This is my third school, I'm hopping to get a permanent position here. Both the kids and staff here are very polite :) a very relaxing work environment.
climbing up the old concrete walkway up the bluffs reveals the remains of the once proud McKinley Elementary School. The school was built in 1910 and served students till the late 1970's.It is now privately owned and decaying....
The school has a unique location along the wooded bluffs in East Moline,IL.

I don't know that it was really my intention to start a new 365 project on New Year's Day, but all things must begin somewhere, and this was simply the day I walked out of my house with the camera. I'm choosing to do this round solely with the 50mm because it's the lens I find myself coming back to, no matter how many others I buy. Overwhelmingly, my favorite pictures from the archives are taken with the 50mm... its ability to be tack sharp where needed, then softly fade away.
I've gotten away from photography over the course of the last year. Working from home is great in terms of commute time from bedroom to office, and how much I save on gas... but there's a distinct lack of opportunity to shoot when you spend most of your day in front of a computer, surrounded by suburban sprawl built in the 50s and 60s. It will be my challenge, therefore, to find beauty in this otherwise dull landscape. Especially in the winter, when everything already looks so bleak.

I love sports. I'm a center striker on my soccer team. Someday I'd like to be a model on the cover of a magazine or have a big giant house in the Bahamas or New Zealand. I've gone with a couple of boys and we usually just hang around each other and stuff. Most of my friends dress plainer than me. Fashion is just clothes, but style is the type of clothes you wear. I really hate the thought of war.
