The elementary school I went to is opening for its 50th school year in September. A ceremony is being planned for the day it was dedicated in 1968 to commemorate it, the high point is to be the opening of a time capsule placed in the cornerstone by the PTA. I started here its second year in 1969 and left in 1976. Its changed a lot over the years with additions and upgrades but still a lot of memories here.

For this week’s concentration focus, I chose to use my Lenser v24 and work on perfecting this form of light painting. Well the main reason is because my orb tool broke and I have new lights on order and hopefully they will work since it is not Christmas anymore (obviously) and I don’t know how to find anymore “good” ones.
I did say that I would make it out to the "Tuke" this week and this is one of the great shots I got last night. This ended up being a quick night out because I have gotten much better at figuring out my surroundings right when I arrive which means less test shots. l parked behind a nearby strip mall and walked back around towards 48th street. As I looked down this tunnel, I noticed that it wasn't very long. I chose to shoot from the side I did because I knew that a little added steel wool would compliment the light polluted background well and would make it less distracting. I had to make this lenser orb outside of the tunnel because they were too shot to be able to extend my arm complete up. I did the orb first and had a full piece of steel wool, ripped it in half and spun some in each side of the tunnel.
I have found out that this location will be better suited for normal orbs and other forms of light painting because of the tunnels being so short. Thankfully I am not limited in my abilities so I am able to find other ways to get around my challenges and still create great works of art.
This fits into my concetration because I have begun to expand my knowledge of potential light painting locations that are not that hard to get to.

A fairly typical Japanese elementary school (shougakkou). South facing with lots of natural light. Almost always a very drab concrete box. There are balconies in front of the upstairs classrooms. The schoolyard is clay.
My first grade classroom ca.1942. The brick building underwent over six million dollars of renovations and opened yesterday as S.J. Burnside Education Centre.

Cops & Barbers provided haircuts to students during a free haircut event at Lakeforest Elementary School on Monday, October 17. Partners for the event include DMTCutz, Kampus Kutz, Unlimited Cuts, Another Level, Young Vision Barber Shop, and Greenville Police School Resource Officers.
The City of Greenville Cops & Barbers program partners police and local barbers to foster positive relationships between law enforcement and the community.
Franklin Elementary School students now have a new playground to enjoy, thanks to Let’s Play Community Construction Grant from the Dr. Pepper Snapple Group (DPS) and national non-profit KaBOOM! In partnership with Trinity Health's Transforming Communities Initiative, the Onondaga County Health Department contributed additional funding for the renovation of the playground. This deserted sign board, donated by the Class of 1965, is a poignant reminder of the closure of the Galien Township Schools. The last class graduated in 2012 and the district was formally dissolved in 2019. The high school, built in 1936 and renovated in 1999 and 2000, currently sits vacant. Students living in the village of Galien or Galien Township now have the option of being bused to Buchanan Community Schools (to the east) or to the River Valley School District (to the west); alternatively, they may elect to attend a school of their choice. In retrospect, the closure of Galien Township Schools was perhaps inevitable given that the rural population served by the district was never very large and declined 27% between 1960 and 2010.
Visible in the background is the delapidated, vine-covered backstop for Galien High School's baseball diamond, the former Floyd Lintner Field. In the 1960s, Galien's sports teams (known as the Gaels) would have competed in the Big Eight Conference against local foes Bridgman, Eau Claire, Edwardsburg, New Buffalo, New Troy, and Three Oaks.
