This abandoned schoolhouse was obviously used for years by cattle seeking shelter during the winter blizzards. The porch has fallen so now the cows can't get in. The rest of the school is considering collapsing too.
A former tsarist primary school, built in 1912, during the era of Russification. The school operated on this site until 1961, when it was moved to its current location.
In the 1970s, the building housed a butcher shop and was later converted into communal housing. Today, it is still partially occupied. A restored inscription in Russian, "Начaльноe Училище" (Nachalnoye Uchilishche), (Elementary School), along with the date of construction, remains on the façade. Łódź, Poland.

Hackberry Elementary School — Oct. 2007
just off Route 66, the hackberry elementary school is "a quite ornate Mission-style building with red roof tiles, two tiny decorative towers and even a Spanish-style bell."
A co-worker of mine asked if I would take some photos of a local elementary school that is having a fundraiser book developed ... and wanted some captures for the booklet.
Took advantage of the wet blue hour conditions figuring it would be better than the just drab gray wintry view that would be normal in the middle of the day.
The original elementary school burned down, and remnants can be seen here in the arch that remains. Used one of the large trees in front of the school to help frame the scene.
