A collection of small Stark meters that were used in high schools here in Canada. The different colors represented the different functions of each meter. These are all the different ones I have in my collection. If you have one not shown in the photo, I'd love to hear about it.
I rigged a NERF Vulcan/Havok Fire EBF-25 up so that its firing could be controlled by computer, then used the motion detecting software 'motion' for linux to have the gun fire when it detects the door opening.
The gun itself has three chained ammo belts, for a total of 74 shots, and a 12.6V lipo battery instead of the 9V D-cell battery pack it would use stock. The firing mechanism is an Arduino driving a servo connected to some pencils to pull the trigger, and there's a Logitech C300 webcam on the gun to source video. The laptop itself also plays sound files from Portal turrets when motion is detected or stops being detected. Check out www.youtube.com/watch?v=wrWUhVeEcHk for video!

Here's my workbench (and the tiny room it's in) for the BricoGeek contest.
This is in the vanity attached to the master bedroom. The workbench surface is 3/4" ply with a cheap pine dropedge, and sits on spacers above the sink. Standard bathroom-style cabinet below stores the larger parts and tools.
The medicine cabinet holds a few finished BEAM bots, power supplies, and chip programmers.
Opposite the bench is a floor-to-ceiling linen closet, which is full of more tools, parts, toys, books, notebooks, etc...
On floor, bottom-right, is a large three drawer tupperware thing with even more parts, tools, and waiting-to-be-scavenged tidbits.

The control board for the hard disk laser projector. Uses a Parallax Propeller microcontroller, which does nearly all the work in software. This includes software servo loops, and a vector graphics engine.
