Using a series of Neodymium magnets, I cleaned up my desk, picking up the trimmed off LED legs from a project I had just soldered together. (An Adafruit LoL Shield - www.adafruit.com/products/274)
The legs stuck to the magnet, orientating themselves to match the magnetic field lines coming from the strong magnet.

"Beast" and "Contraption " are a couple of names I've heard this camera called. Introduced in 1961, and intended to be easy to use, it was hardly that. It was unique in that flash bulbs were used and a 15 volt battery was supplied for the purpose of the flash synch only. The Shutter Release is mounted on the front of the camera and a flash bulb ejector button is mounted on top.

Collin found a tag sale selling a bunch of them for ten bucks each. There were also a bunch of tools, as if some old electronics engineer had died and this was all his stuff.
After changing lens and putting both memory cards in the camera it would not switch on!!! So, I changed the battery with a fully charged one and a warning sign appeared telling me to clean the contacts between the camera and the lens!? Having done so the camera still doesn't work and even swapping lens didn't help. I've tried taking the battery out and putting it back in again and then it won't switch on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Too many electronics in these things. I am advised that the camera is going to have to be have returned to Canon!!! I wonder how much I'd get if I traded all my Canon gear in for Nikon?! I am seriously unamused. :(

Der neue VW Touran 2015
Unabhängig vom neuen Design, vom vergrößerten Innenraum (plus 63 mm in der Länge) und Kofferraum (plus 48 Liter beim Fünfsitzer), unabhängig vom reduzierten Gewicht (minus 62 kg) und von den bis zu 19 Prozent sparsameren Motoren, sind es in der Tat die Detaillösungen, die den neuen Touran auszeichnen.
Neue Sitz- und Klimaanlage.
Die zweite Generation des Touran überzeugt mit einer höchsten variablen Fold-Flat-Sitzanlage, die es in einer fünf- und siebensitzigen Ausführung gibt. Im Alltag sind es zudem Details wie die bis zu 47 Ablagen, in denen alle möglichen Utensilien ihren Platz finden. Kleines aber cleveres Detail am Rande: eine Kofferraumbeleuchtung, die mit einem Klick entnommen und als Taschenlampe eingesetzt werden kann.
Als Novum kommt optional eine Drei-Zonen-Klimaautomatik – die Pure Air Climatronic – mit einer neuen Filtertechnologie zum Einsatz. Ein Luftgütesensor mit einem Aktiv-Biogen-Filter hält die Luftqualität dabei auf einem konstant hohen Niveau und verhindert das Eindringen von Schadstoffen; und zwar bis hin zu Pilzsporen und Allergenen. Eine bislang einzigartige Technologie. Innovative Kommunikation.
Darüber hinaus sind es Features wie das neue „Car-Net Cam Connect“, die den neuen Touran zu einem außergewöhnlich Van machen: Hier ersetzt eine „GoPro®“ den Blick der Eltern in Richtung Fond; das Kamerabild der Kinder wird einfach auf den Monitor des Infotainmentsystems übertragen. Entspannter kommuniziert es sich zudem über die ebenfalls neue „Elektronische Sprachverstärkung“; Fahrer und Beifahrer nutzen dabei die Freisprechanlage und die an das Infotainmentsystem gekoppelten Lautsprecher des Touran, damit sie auch in der zweiten und dritten Sitzreihe Gehör finden.
Wegweisende Vernetzung.
Die neuen Systeme des Modularen Infotainmentbaukastens der zweiten Generation (MIB II) schaffen die Voraussetzung dafür, dass Volkswagen nun via „App-Connect“ nahezu alle Smartphones mit dem Touran vernetzt. Denn „App-Connect“ integriertneben „MirrorLink™“ erstmals auch „CarPlay™“ (Apple) und „Android Auto™“ (Google) in die Infotainmentsysteme.
Fortschritte in Sachen passiver und aktiver Sicherheit erzielt Volkswagen hier unter anderem über eine mit hochfesten Stahlsorten gezielt crashoptimierte Karosserie (ca. 25 Prozent höhere statische Steifigkeit der Karosseriestruktur), bis zu neun Airbags, ein Fahrwerk mit Pkw-ähnlichen Eigenschaften sowie einem in dieser Klasse wegweisend großen Spektrum neuer Assistenzsysteme. Zu den neu im Touran angebotenen Assistenzsystemen gehören die serienmäßige Multikollisionsbremse, das ebenfalls serienmäßige proaktive Insassenschutzsystem,die automatische Distanzregelung ACC, der Front Assist inklusive City-Notbremsfunktion, der Stauassistent, ein proaktives Insassenschutzsystem, der Side Assist mit Ausparkassistent und der erstmals in einem Van realisierte Trailer Assist (Anhängerrangierassistent). Neu im Touran sind im Komfortbereich das elektrische Öffnen und Schließen der Heckklappe, die automatische Heckklappenöffnungsfunktion Easy Open (aktivierbar via Fußbewegung), die Fahrprofilauswahl und leistungsstarke LED-Scheinwerfer.
Die neuen LED-Scheinwerfer lösen im Touran die Xenonsysteme ab. Im Angebot sind dabei gleich zwei Varianten: In der Grundversion werden das Abblend- und Fernlicht mit LED-Technik erzeugt; zudem können die Scheinwerfer mit einer Fernlichtregulierung (Light Assist; aktiviert und deaktiviert das Fernlicht automatisch) kombiniert werden. Die LED-Scheinwerfer der Topversion verfügen darüberhinaus über ein dynamisches Kurvenfahrlicht, LED-Tagfahrlicht und (optional) eine dynamische Fernlichtregulierung (Dynamic Light Assist; Dauerfernlicht mit variabler Straßenausleuchtung).

Neu respektive weiterentwickelt wurden die durchgängig stärkerenTurbomotoren des Touran. Die jeweils drei Euro-6-Benziner (TSI mit 81 kW / 110 PS, 110 kW / 150 PS und 132 kW / 180 PS) und Euro-6-Diesel (TDI mit 81 kW / 110 PS, 110 kW / 150 PS und 140 kW / 190 PS) verbrauchen bis zu 19 Prozent weniger Kraftstoff. Das sparsamste Modell – der Touran 1.6 TDI mit 110 PS und 7-Gang- Doppelkupplungsgetriebe (DSG) – gibt sich mit wegweisend niedrigen 4,1 l/100 km* zufrieden. Die sparsamste Ottomotor-Version ist mit einem Durchschnittsverbrauch von 5,4 l/100 km der 150 PS starke Touran 1.4 TSI; auch hier in Kombination mit einem optionalen 7-Gang-DSG. Stets serienmäßig an Bord: das Start-Stopp-System und der Rekuperationsmodus. Alle Touran mit TSI-Motoren erfüllen die für einen Van vorbildliche Effizienzklasse B; die TDI-Versionen erreichen sogar die Grenzwerte der Effizienzklasse A.

This presentation summarizes THREE CLASSICAL, separate, independent, and quintessential REAL-WORLD population-environment calamities (each of which involved mass mortalities and/or 99% die-offs) that either began or were actually already well-underway in surrounding environments that remained 99.998% unoccupied (2/1000ths of 1% occupied) and which, visually-speaking, appeared to remain ALMOST ENTIRELY EMPTY. (In other words, all three classical real-world studies showed population catastrophes in vast "open-space" conditions and suggest or argue quite powerfully that humankind's own "vast open-space" suppositions may constitute exceedingly dangerous misperceptions.)
The three real-world examples assessed in this presentation include routine outbreaks of red-tide dinoflagellates (e.g. Karenia brevis) in marine environments (which can kill millions of tons of fish and even manatees by their release of wastes into their surroundings), and two separate classical and independent climb-and-collapse population-explosions / 99%-plus die-offs in reindeer herds (Rangifer tarandus) on islands in the Bering Sea.

History of DIY audio
Audio DIY came to prominence in the 50s to 60s, as audio reproduction was relatively new and the technology "complex," audio reproduction equipment, and in particular high performance equipment, was not offered at the retail level. Kits and designs were available for consumers to build their own equipment. Famous vacuum tube kits from Dynaco, Heathkit, and McIntosh, as well as solid state (transistor) kits from Hafler allowed for consumers to build their own hi fidelity systems. Books and magazines were published which explained new concepts regarding the design and operation of vacuum tube and (later) transistor circuits.
While audio equipment has become easily accessible in the current day and age, there still exists an interest in building one's own equipment, including amplifiers, speakers, preamplifiers, and even CD players and turntables. Today, a network of companies, parts vendors, and on-line communities exist to foster this interest. DIY is especially active in loudspeaker and in tube amplification. Both are relatively simple to design and fabricate without access to sophisticated industrial equipment. Both enable the builder to pick and choose between various available parts, on matters of price as well as quality, allow for extensive experimentation, and offer the chance to use exotic or highly labor-intensive solutions, which would be expensive for a manufacturer to implement, but only require personal labor by the DIYer, which is a source of satisfaction to them.

Don't let the title fool you, this is actually pretty nice. It creates an open feeling as you would make your way towards the TVs in the back.
Is it too much to ask if only Kmart could get rid of the '90s signs hanging over the TVs? I think not, but for now I'm happy that they at least redid this and the pantry dept.

In home computing, a hacker is someone who modifies software or hardware of their own private computer system. It includes building, rebuilding, modifying, and creating software (software cracking, demoscene), electronic hardware (hardware hacking, overclocking, modding), either to make it better, faster, to give it added features or to make it do something it was not originally intended to do. Hacking in this sense originated around hobbyist circles discussing the MITS Altair at the homebrew computer club.

Hacker artists create art by hacking on technology as an artistic medium. This has extended the definition of the term and what it means to be a hacker. Such artists may work with graphics, computer hardware, sculpture, music and other audio, animation, video, software, simulations, mathematics, reactive sensory systems, text, poetry, literature, or any combination thereof.
Dartmouth College musician Larry Polansky states: "Technology and art are inextricably related. Many musicians, video artists, graphic artists, and even poets who work with technology—whether designing it or using it—consider themselves to be part of the 'hacker community.' Computer artists, like non-art hackers, often find themselves on society’s fringes, developing strange, innovative uses of existing technology. There is an empathetic relationship between those, for example, who design experimental music software and hackers who write communications freeware." [3]
Another description is offered by Jenny Marketou: "Hacker artists operate as culture hackers who manipulate existing techno-semiotic structures towards a different end, to get inside cultural systems on the net and make them do things they were never intended to do." [4]
A successful software and hardware hacker artist is Mark Lottor (mkl), who has created the 3-D light art projects entitled the Cubatron, and the Big Round Cubatron. This art is made using custom computer technology, with specially designed circuit boards and programming for microprocessor chips to manipulate the LED lights.
Don Hopkins is a software hacker artist well known for his artistic cellular automata. This art, created by a cellular automata computer program, generates objects which randomly bump into each other and in turn create more objects and designs, similar to a lava lamp, except that the parts change color and form through interaction. Says Hopkins, "Cellular automata are simple rules that are applied to a grid of cells, or the pixel values of an image. The same rule is applied to every cell, to determine its next state, based on the previous state of that cell and its neighboring cells. There are many interesting cellular automata rules, and they all look very different, with amazing animated dynamic effects. 'Life' is a widely known cellular automata rule, but many other lesser known rules are much more interesting."
Some hacker artists create art by writing computer code, and others, by developing hardware. Some create with existing software tools such as Adobe Photoshop or GIMP.
The creative process of hacker artists can be more abstract than artists using non-technological media. For example, mathematicians have produced visually stunning graphic presentations of fractals, which hackers have further enhanced, often producing detailed and intricate graphics and animations from simple mathematical formulas.
