The Macro Monday challenge for Monday the 4th is "gift."
Since we could not get together with our son, who lives across the country, we gave him seven days of electronic gifts, one each day, starting on the 25th.
Electronic rental scooters have arrived in Sheboygan at the start of the summer tourist season. Renters are permitted to leave their scooter anywhere in the city and the imbedded GPS chip will let the agency know where to pick it up if needed. Often the drop location will encourage spontaneous rentals. Due to the physical limitations of their species, these gulls can not take advantage of the situation.
Austin, Texas electronic super-scientist Dr. Bleep (aka John-Mike Reed) was kind enough to let me borrow one of his amazing audio/visual creations, a “Thingamagoop 2” to be specific. It lights up, it makes music and sound, it looks fantastic, and all of the knobs and switches actually do stuff. The Thingamagoop 2 is no longer being produced, so I am so grateful that I got to put one in front of my camera!
You can learn more about Dr. Bleep at Bleep Labs.

Ceramics are widely used in electronics (chip packages, insulators, capacitors, resistors, inductors, fuse blocks, etc.). Here are just two examples. Ferrite is a ferromagnetic ceramic used for making things like inductors, transformers and chokes. The bulge you often find on the power or data cord to one of your computer, stereo or television devices is a piece of ferrite around the cord that blocks high-frequency signals picked up by the wire from interfering with the electronics. The two ferrite rings in this photo are about 30mm/1.2" across.
The white ceramic insulating spacers hold the fixed and the rotating sides of the variable capacitor apart from each other.

The 6th and final image of a series that takes airbrushed street art and puts a further spin on it with digital photo manipulation. Even in the original photograph you can see how the owl piece was added on to by someone calling themselves "Dice" who ads his, or her, skull outline to the bird's forehead. It seems to be understood by all of the artists on "Airbrush Alley" that if you put up your work, you have to accept that it might just be added on to. In come cases it works, in others' it's an insensitive travesty, a marring.
I hope that my digital spin on these images are not the latter.

A cityscape with slender skyscrapers inspired by Le Corbusier, or maybe just an old circuit board with heat sink and transformer through a macro lens.
A bit of playing around with graduated filters in Nik Color Efex to add the ominous sky.

This unique species of pine was introduced into Southern Pine 10-15 years ago. It has really taken hold and proliferated significantly:-))
Well actually it a a cell tower made to look somewhat like a pine tree. The fact that it towers over all the other trees is still disconcerting.

Found this "wall" when I was wandering around Phu Quoc Island - Vietnam on a motorbike. This house is about 3km from An Thoi ward.
I was totally surprised when I saw this house. It's a normal house with a genius wall made from real TVs. This house's owner must be a happy guy!
