I created this with an online application called DeepArt (depart.io). Note the application didn't work well with Safari on my Mac, but it worked well with Firefox.
You can upload a photo and use one of the suggested "styles" on the site or you can upload your own styles.
I first played with the site's styles and then started to upload my own, experimenting mostly with realistic images and abstract styles from my archives to see what kinds of contrasting images would work together.

The style was an electronic circuit board like one you might find inside a computer. (This was a style provided by DeepArt.)
Sometimes DeepArt results are super interesting and other times, the style overwhelms the original image or just doesn't go well with it.
After creating my image at DeepArt, I used Photoshop to enhance it and change the colors. I also added another copy of the snowflake without a background on a layer above everything else and lowered the opacity just enough to increase the illusion of a snowflake without obliterating the circuit-board patterns.
I recently acquired a Revue Electronic C (of course, Alfred has one, see below), a local rebranding of the ubiquitous (and very nice) Cosina Compact 35 (here it is in its original manufacturer's brand: www.collection-appareils.fr/x/html/appareil-10729-Cosina_...) . It contained a roll of Agfa XRG 100 which I brought for developing. There was a bunch of family pictures that appear to have been taken in the '80s or early '90s by someone who was having a hard time with rangefinder focussing. This one is actually quite nice. Let's see whether I can get get it to the original owner. As for the camera, it will need the usual viewfinder cleanup and removing the oil on the shutter before it's good to go for a new lease of life.
Revue Electronic C with its Cosinon 1:2.7 f=38mm, Agfa XRG 100 developed by Foto Express on the Schweitzer Straße and digitalized using kit zoom and extension tubes.

Ceramics are widely used in electronics (chip packages, insulators, capacitors, resistors, inductors, fuse blocks, etc.). Here are just two examples. Ferrite is a ferromagnetic ceramic used for making things like inductors, transformers and chokes. The bulge you often find on the power or data cord to one of your computer, stereo or television devices is a piece of ferrite around the cord that blocks high-frequency signals picked up by the wire from interfering with the electronics. The two ferrite rings in this photo are about 30mm/1.2" across.
The white ceramic insulating spacers hold the fixed and the rotating sides of the variable capacitor apart from each other.

I had to make a very difficult decision recently. With the economy
sucking royally my freelance gigs have almost all but dried up, save
for a single, very loyal client. In addition, energy prices for this
winter are going up by some 20% (thanks, Pepco). For the past number
of months I've watched my electricity bill slowly climb, to around
$300 for a loft apartment.
I finally decided to start crunching some numbers and found the
culprit: my Mac Pro. It takes about 600W of power to run the machine,
which is far, far more than just about every electronic item in our
home.
So, I decided to sell it. The plan for now? Use my MacBook Pro until
Apple starts shipping the LED Cinema Displays. Pick up one or two of
those. Then, hopefully in the next few weeks, the iMacs will get
revised. At that point, I'll buy one and use that as my primary machine.
I just no longer need the power (or the power consumption) the Mac Pro
provides. Do I regret it? Maybe just a little. But I think in the long
term I'll be much happier, even if I no longer have bragging rights.
That said, a gentleman is coming tomorrow with $6,500 cash and is
taking the entire set up. Here's what she looks like on her last night
in my home, just about ready to be prepped for delivery to her new
owner.

Sunset light floods the Columbia River Gorge at Ruthton Park as a train passes by.
I captured this image back in 2012 with my D700. I originally bracketed the scene to process with the LR HDR feature. Today, with more refined editing techniques using TK Panels v6, I am able to process this image with much better color, clarity, tonal balance, and detail.
