This is the view to the west of Bangui Bay. This image shows 5 of the 15 turbines of Bangui Bay.

These 15 wind turbines(called Vestas NM82) provide a total of almost 25 MW of power and is part of the Luzon Island grid in the Philippines. Height of these windmills is 70 meters. Each of the three blades has a length of 41 meters. The wind swept area of the rotors is approximately 5,280 square meters. Each windmill is 326 meters a part, almost 1/3 of a kilometer.

Location of this turbines is at Pebble Beach, in the shores of Bangui Bay, Ilocos Norte province. Thiese turbines is the first power plant of its kind in the Philippines and Southeast Asia.

Governor Andrew M. Cuomo and a delegation of administration officials traveled to the U.S. Virgin Islands today to survey the damage caused by Hurricane Irma. The trip comes after Governor Mapp requested that Governor Cuomo travel to the region to survey the damage. Governor Cuomo has pledged to identify how New York can best provide additional assistance to the impacted area as they begin the recovery process. The New York delegation includes experts with a range of experience in incident management and disaster recovery at the local, state and federal levels dealing with crises such as Superstorm Sandy, Hurricane Irene and Tropical Storm Lee. During the assessment, the delegation is using this expertise to work with U.S. Virgin Island officials to determine the state of critical infrastructure, as well as identify how best to allocate resources. Sandia National Laboratories researcher Matt Lave uses pyranometers like these to measure the amount of irradiance, or available sunlight. There are four round pyranometers, capped by small glass domes, on this device. The work shows that the variability of a point sensor is larger than the variability of a photovoltaic power plant.
