Cal Poly Electrical Engineering Spring Senior Project Showcase
The helicity of a laser beam can be used to control magnetization where sweeping a polarized laser writes "CMMR" for the Center for Magnetic Recording Research at UC San Diego. The dark gray indicates one magnetization orientation, while the light gray indicates an opposite orientation.
"The seniors apply the theory which they have learned in class to a practical experiment in the Electrical Engineering lab."

The University of Texas System Board of Regents approved funding to help launch a $30 million nanoelectronics initiative. The cornerstone of the initiative will be a nanoelectronics research center at the university. UT System will participate with the state of Texas, Texas Instruments and other industry partners in a proposal to create the Southwest Academy of Nanoelectronics, which Electrical Engineering Professor Sanjay Banerjee will direct. The initiative also calls for recruiting talented nanoelectronics experts to hold research/faculty appointments at three UT institutions.
Fairly typical HV 23 MVA transformer, viewed from below the bund. Note the separate cooling radiator and oil conservator tank, coupled to the transformer tank via a Buchholz relay.
Beneath the prominent explosion vent is the 'on-load' tap-changer, and the desiccant breather can be seen mounted above on the inverted 'U' pipe. The transformer sits in front of a blast-separator wall.
Two examples of postcards - postkarten for the Stuttgart based electrical company of Robert Bosch A.G. that appear in a supplement to Gebrauschgrafik, Year 1, issue 7, from 1924. The artworks are based on poster or advert designs by the famous German graphic designer Lucian Bernard (1883 - 1972) and the overall design is by the artistic director - Künstlerische Leiter - E. Rosen.
Bosch was founded by Robert Bosch in 1886 and they are still one of the world's major producers of engineering, electrical and technological products. The company's early success was built upon electrical components for the growing engine and motor vehicle industries as seen here with an electrically operated horn, headlights and starter motors.
