Two venerable electric locomotives sit on display outside the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania.

At right is Pennsylvania Railroad (PRR) GG1 no. 4800, one of 139 built by General Electric and the PRR Altoona Works between 1934 and 1943. The locomotive is nicknamed "Old Rivets" as it is the only GG1 with a riveted (rather than welded) body. 4800 was also the first GG1 to enter service, hauling a special train on January 28, 1935 to mark the completion of electrification from Washington, DC to New York City.

At left is Amtrak AEM-7 no. 915, one of 65 total manufactured by EMD / ASEA between 1978 and 1988 (54 purchased by Amtrak, 4 by MARC, and 7 by SEPTA). All have been retired at this point, with four entering preservation so far.

“This artist’s concept shows what the 4-man GE space station would look like in space. The supply crafts hovering around the station are Gemini vehicles.”

So, this is possibly a MORL precursor? Or, is it MORL without being called MORL? Despite varied literature I came across it's sort of muddled...at least to me. Especially, with this being a General Electric entry/submittal & them being out of the running by the time "MORL" was the common jargon. I think. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I assume the station is spinning. 😉

This has got to be the thickest, heaviest-weight photographic paper with a black & white image on it that I’ve ever come across. It rivals ANY of the heaviest-weight “A KODAK PAPER” (with color image) specimens.

An unexpected & pleasant find, with some other works by the artist, Peter A. Bertolino:

Even more gratifying, thanks yet again to the Legacy website:

BERTOLINO, PETER A., on May 5, 2004. Beloved husband of Adeline Bertolino, loving father of Michael and Peter Bertolino, devoted grandfather of 3. A Veteran of WWII-U.S. Army.”

While the above is cursory, the following comments more than make up for it:

“My condolences to Peter's family. He was a wonderful man. I can tell you that it was always a pleasure to work with him and to be in his company. I know he was always proud of his work, but even more so of his family. I will remember him fondly.”

And:

“Co-worker from GE days:

“I am very saddened by Pete's death. Pete was a loving and caring person. He always had a story to tell about family, life and especially about his artwork. I still picture Pete with his pipe in his mouth and a grin on his face as he worked on his board. He always made me smile. What a GREAT man. I will cherish all of his Christmas Cards.”

“Co-worker from GE days:

“Pete was certainly a great guy. He was a man that I always looked up to, a very special person.”

The Electric Cinema first opened in London's Portobello Road on 24 February 1910. It was one of the first buildings in Britain to be designed specifically for motion picture exhibition, and was one of the first buildings in the vicinity to be supplied with electricity.[3] It was built shortly after its namesake the Electric Cinema in Birmingham, which predates it by around two months. Its first film was Henry VIII, screened on 23 February 1911.[3]

The venue opened 18 years before talkies became the norm, so had no facilities to broadcast sound.[3] The cinema was soon eclipsed by the huge picture palaces that became fashionable during the 1930s but, despite being shuttered for brief periods, it has remained in almost continual use until the present day.[4][5]

Blue hour, just before sunrise, just before everything stayed grey for the rest of the day. Streetlights lighting up the foreground, everything further into the woods icy electric blues. I just love the contrast between the two!

- www.kevin-palmer.com - Even after driving up Highway 14 dozens of times, I almost always stop at this scenic overlook. It’s where the Bighorn Mountains meet the endless plains stretching across eastern Wyoming and Montana. The towns of Dayton, Ranchester, and Sheridan are seen thousands of feet below and it’s a popular spot for launching hang gliders. For years I’ve wanted to capture a good lightning storm from here. But it required just the right storm, one that comes in from the northwest in a path parallel to the mountains. It needed to be close enough to light up the valley, but far enough to stay out of danger and out of most of the rain. It also needed to be predictable, so I could get there in time. At 10PM sheets of rain began to envelop the ridges to the north one by one. Then this brilliant flash illuminated the foothills and switchbacks just before the lights of Dayton disappeared into the downpour. I’ve always loved the challenge of capturing something that lasts a fraction of a second and preserving it in a picture.
