Well I managed to test negative after my five days isolation in Maura's apartment in Italy, so now we're mountain biking in Valle Maira. the combination of wild flowers and dramatic mountains is stunning. My legs are struggling with so many steep climbs and never ending ascents, but the rewards and downhills are well worth the effort. Simply Beautiful is by Al Green

Ne chercher pas les vaches, elles n'y sont pas par contre, vous trouverez des famille marmottes qui jouent dans les montagnes.

After an effort to climb to the Col de La Vanoise, by going down this lake, located at 2320m altitude and fed by the Grande Casse glacier, offers a superb panorama . We cross it ford thanks to stones slabs aligned in its center. Do not look for the cows, they are not there however, you will find marmots families playing in the mountains.

Amazing birds very secretive and shy when they want to be .Spring and summer they stick to cover screeching their annoyance at anyone that dares disturb them but autumn comes and they seem to be everywhere especially where theres a chance of finding some acorns !!

A red-headed wood pigeon (Columba janthina nitens) is a subspecies of the Japanese wood pigeon, has a dark-pink head and a green/blue breast, and lives only in Bonin Islands, Japan. Although it is highly endangered, its number has increased from around 40 to hundreds after efforts of conservation, which include translocation of stray cats. I was fortunate to look at them during my short visit to the island.

Anything goes for 2021 - Out of my comfort zone

I thought I would take a photo of the berries on the berberis bush in my garden. A nice quick simple photo...but then I decided to add a few textures, finishing with a red petal with raindrops on it. So my simple photo ended up taking a lot longer than I had planned. I'm not sure it was worth the effort, I probably should have stayed in my comfort zone and set up a still life!

Snowdonia in such great weather must be as close to heaven one can be. Back from a wonderful walk, on superb paths and with a marvellous little cafe to visit on the way back home!

Snowdonia is a fantastick part of Britain for those who want to walk in beautiful landscape and be able to get great views with moderate efforts.

We have been here twice in April, and the weather have been rather nice both times. I can imagine how wonderful it must be in summer on a nice day. But I suppose it will be rather crowded here then. And the price of B/B and self catering much higher. And there is also the little problem that as a farmer is it impossble for me to go in summer :-)

There are many more photos from the walk down from Y-Garn, and our lunch at the amazing little cafe named... well, look through the pictures and find out what it is named. The name couldn't have been more wrong!

I don't get out for a walk at sunset often enough, especially at this time of year when sunset is quite late. I did make the effort last night and it was well worth it. There was a barn owl swooping around all evening but he wouldn't come close enough (and I don't really have the lens) to capture him. I did however, get some nice sunset shots through the grass (Eileen, I'm inspired by some you yours!).

While on my way back to the kitchen to refresh my coffee, look who was sitting on my windowsill begging for peanuts. Chonky! The little bugger had to climb up the side of the house to get there. Fortunately, I had some leftover peanuts to give him. That was "A" for effort to attract my attention. You will notice that the window was a little dirty. That was the result of splash back after giving my dog a bath. 😂

We are visiting Vietnam this week. For the Thanksgiving day, we took a day trip from Hanoi to Ninh Binh, where it is considered as Ha Long Bay on land. The weather was wet and miserable but we were able to climb the 500 steps to the mountain top of Hang Mua. The view from there was well worth our efforts. If you zoom in on the steps, you might be able to see a few other souls braving the rain and wind also.

I am happy that the sunrise times are moving closer and closer to a reasonable time of the morning.

I thought I would make the effort to catch the sunrise this morning.

I love this time of the morning as the sky changes minute by minute as the canvas is painted pink yellow and red, just before the sun rises over the horizon.

I was shooting photos in the opposite direction when I turned round and spotted the sun rising above the horizon.

This bird is endangered and one stunningly beautiful Hawaiian Honeycreeper. Avian Malaria is affecting their numbers and efforts like nature preserves in Hakalau have helped preserve this species on the island of Hawaii. The Hawaii Akepa is the only cavity-nester in Hawaii and depends on natural cavities to nest and is dependant on old trees.

Very late and scarce this year I have an inkling there may be a mink on the prowl as juvenile dippers and yellow wagtails seem few and far between this year lets just hope their just running a bit late.

This was taken today after a break in the rain /Taken walking Badger and only 1 quick shot don't want to upset the parent birds no picture is worth that.

Cleo's Flickr friends know that she always needs a good reason for physical activity and treats ARE a good reason. She found the treats bag in the kitchen, carried it into the garden (probably because she didn't want me to see what she was doing) and used her claws to open the bag. Cleo can indeed be very determined if she has a goal. :)

The American Bittern is a well camouflaged member of the heron family which enables it to blend into its freshwater wetland habitat and live the life of secrecy it so desires. The most recognized characteristic of this species is its deep and mysterious booming call which has been the cause of numerous nicknames including "Thunder Pumper". They are more often heard than seen.

Their nest is a platform of grasses, dead reeds and sedges located just above the waterline and most often will have an entrance as well as an exit path. Nests contain from 2 - 7 eggs and they will raise one brood between April and August.

When alarmed this bittern will freeze with its neck stretched and its bill pointed straight up in an effort to copy the reedy background and remain unseen but they will flush if an intruder approaches too closely.
