This is a piece I did for a university project where we were given a historic event and had to create an image that represented it.
The historic event that I got was freedom of speech, after researching this subject for a while I went onto censorship and how it effects a persons freedom of speech. The main form of censorship that i wanted to depict was 'The Chilling Effect'. This occurs when a person is afraid of how they are going to be penalized for saying something and this in turn restricts their freedom of speech.
I wanted it to look like a theater and have a auditorium atmosphere, which I think i've achieved quite well. The speaker behind the desk is meant to look under pressure and afraid, and the people to the right of him are meant to be threatening and intimidating towards the speaker. I'm not that keen on the appearance of the audience as the figure in the bottom left attracts a bit too much attention.
I created this shot by shooting every figure you see individually and then using photoshop to merge the shots together and develop a perspective and scale that would give the impression this was shot in one go in a theater.

I tell ya, this stuff is so much fun! This is an old balsa wood model I made when I was like 12 years old. I thought they were the $hit, so I made like 5 of them. I'm hoping to use a few more and make this into a series.
But either I need to buy more batteries or buy a AC adapter cause my batteries take a beating!
with the shutter open for 10 seconds, i could only get about 20 pictures until I had to change them.

I had to do this one in layers, no biggie, just build em in PS CS3.
go check out CS3 if you haven't. it's pretty much the same as CS2 with a few added features, the biggest and most helpful I've seen so far is a much improved photomerge for stitching photos together for panoramas.
Shot through an out of focus grill and captured the entire window opposite. Makes for an old white out effect.

I put a layer of pale lavendar over the rose, then reduced the opacity to create a soft focus, greeting-card effect.
Another superb view of Herbert Lake in Banff. I could spend months there just staring at these amazing peaks and glass water surfaces.
