"For the three nights straddling the Mid-Autumn festival, visitors can also see the spectacular Tai Hang Fire Dragon Dance. It's a 67-metre-long 'fire dragon' that winds its way with much fanfare and smoke through a collection of streets located in Tai Hang, close to Victoria Park in Causeway Bay. The Tai Hang Fire Dragon Dance started in 1880 when Tai Hang was a small Hakka village of farmers and fishermen on the waterfront of Causeway Bay. This custom has been followed every year since 1880, with the exception of the Japanese Occupation and during the 1967 disturbances.
According to local legend, over a century ago, a few days before the Mid-Autumn Festival, a typhoon and then a plague wreaked havoc on the village. While the villagers were repairing the damage, a python entered the village and ate their livestock. According to some villagers, the python was the son of the Dragon King. A soothsayer decreed the only way to stop the chaos was to stage a fire dance for three days and nights during the upcoming Mid-Autumn Festival. The villagers made a huge dragon of straw and covered it with incense sticks, which they then lit. Accompanied by drummers and erupting firecrackers, they danced for three days and three nights – and the plague disappeared."

We really liked Ed. Ed is to 80+ owner of the Veteran's Memorial Bldg. in Vallejo. He is in the process of restoring the building. Other than the neon lettering, which he was willing to let me take on, he''s doing it single-handedly. Neat guy.

Photograph taken at an altitude of Forty five metres at 16:57am on Wednesday 7th November 2018, off Frakkastigur and Eriksgata inside Hallgrímskirkja (church of Hallgrímur) , a Seventy five metre high 1676 ㎡ Lutheran (Church of Iceland) church at Skólavörðurholt in the Helgason Parish of Reykjavík. The church is named after the Icelandic poet and clergyman Hallgrímur Pétursson.
The church was built between 1945-1986, a lengthy period thanks to continually diminishing funds, and was built by Guðjón Samúelsson. Inside is a pipe organ boasting 5275 pipes that was built in 1992, standing fifteen metres high and weighing twenty five tons.
The statue in front of the church is of Leifur Eiríksson (Leif Erikksson), a Norse explorer and son of Erik the red (Eiríkr Þorvaldsson), Leif Ericson was the first European to set foot on the continent of North America, before Christopher Columbus. Designed by American sculptor Alexander Stirling Calder, the statue was a gift from the United States of America to Iceland to commemorate the 1000 year anniversary of Alþingi, the parliament of Iceland.
Reykjavik is Iceland's capital city, and the most populous at 124,847.
