The tricolored heron (Egretta tricolor), formerly known as the Louisiana heron, is a small species of heron that is native to coastal parts of the Americas. In the Atlantic region in ranges from northeastern United States, south along the coast, through the Mexican Gulf and the Caribbean, to northern South America as far south as Brazil. In the Pacific region it ranges from Peru to California, but it is only a non-breeding visitor to the far north.
Tricolored heron's breed in swamps and other coastal habitats. It nests in colonies, often with other herons, usually on platforms of sticks in trees or shrubs. In each clutch, 3–7 eggs are typically laid.
Adults have a blue-grey head, neck, back and upperwings, with a white line along the neck. The belly is white. In breeding plumage, they have long blue filamentous plumes on the head and neck, and buff ones on the back.
The tricolored heron stalks its prey in shallow or deeper water, often running as it does so. It eats fish, crustaceans, reptiles, and insects. Wikipedia

A l'affût dans l'attente de quelque oiseau ou renard, c'est finalement un lapin qui est passé devant l'objectif.
Comme on dit chez nous : faute de grives, on mange des merles.
Bonne journée à tous.

Waiting in expectation of some bird or fox, this is finally a rabbit that is spent in front of the goal.
As we say at home : due to a lack of thrushes, one eats blackbirds.
Good day to all.

Most of the Purple Finches that migrated through our immediate area a few weeks ago have left. This little one has chosen to stay and greets me every day. It loves the hulled sunflower seeds, Yesterday, it was perched on the deck chair waiting for me to refill the sunflower feeders. Here it is on the deck railing looking at me. I was at the kitchen window
The male guards the female and later the chicks while they eat. The female goes where she finds food and the male sits up high on posts, fences, trees to watch over the family. He constantly calls "ka-KAW-ka" as an all-clear signal! He eats on the run during this time.
This male is sitting on our deck post.

This is the Black-Tailed Godwit - Limosa limosa - in its winter plumage, (in summer it has a bright orangey-brown chest and belly), the white wingbars remain at all times. It is a large wading bird, approx 40-44 cm long with a wingspan of 70-82 cm, which eats mainly insects, worms and snails but will also take small insects like beetles and grasshoppers and some plants. There are just 53 (approx) breeding pairs in the UK, the remaining population arriving during winter months from the Icelandic region. It is also the national bird of the Netherlands. This one was seen at Martin Mere Wetlands.

After several failed attempts to fly off with a Woodpigeon in its talons, a female Sparrowhawk eats its prey on the grass.
..why black widow?..Because she eats the smaller male during or at mating...thus she also has more energy for her offspring.....macabre!
The brown pelican mainly feeds on fish, but occasionally eats amphibians, crustaceans, and the eggs and nestlings of birds. It nests in colonies in secluded areas, often on islands. The nonbreeding adult has a white head and neck. The pink skin around the eyes becomes dull and gray in the non-breeding season.
