Many people call this place as Masjid Tiban (Tiban Mosque), but this place is actually an an Islamic Boarding School (Pondok Pesantren), Full Name of school: Pondok Pesantren Salafiah Bihaaru Bahri Asali Fadlaailir Rahmah. Nick name: Tiban.
The complex of this boarding school is wide (about 4-hectare), and the building its self huge and so beautiful. The total floor of this building reaches 10 floors, and may continue to grow.
The architecture of this boarding school is very unique, because a mix of middle east, china, and modern architecture. In the outside, there are beautiful blue minarets and domes. Maybe because of this, many people call this place as Masjid Tiban (Tiban Mosque). This building ornament is indeed super and detailed. Anyone who has done this is great.
There is a rumor about this place that this building was built by supernatural beings, of course it's a hoax :). The architect of this building was KH Achmad Bahru Mafdloludin Sholeh (Founder). Built by the students and people around, since 1978. This building is still under construction until now.
1. For buildings outside such as towers, domes, etc, most of them are finished.
2. For buildings inside, the lower floor is generally almost finished, but many of the upper floors are still not finished.
This complex have a small masjid (mosque) located a little far from the main building. The small size of the masjid is not comparable to the size of a very grand of main building. The architecture of the masjid is Middle East mosque style, white and simple. But the interior of masjid is very beautiful, colorful doom and room. (Check my photo to see it).
The main lesson for students here is to have great practice of virtue, morality and manners. Amazing curriculum. I met several students here, and they are very nice and kind.
I asked the students about why this boarding school complex built so grand and beautiful? The reason is to spread the world about the beauty of Islam by beautiful art and architecture. Wow! What a noble purpose!

A few days before I left to Indonesia, Mount Merapi erupted on the West side of Java, injuring and killing several people. This is the heavily photographed Mount Bromo on the east side. Just a week after this was taken, this mountain also erupted...
On Tuesday, 23 November 2010, 16.30 Western Indonesian Times, the Indonesian Center of Vulcanology and Geology Disaster Mitigation had risen the activity status of Mount Bromo to "alert" because of the increasing activity of tremors and shallow earthquakes in the mountain. The potential volcano eruption might take place soon. As precautions the refugees encampments were erected, the locals and tourists must cleared the area within radius three kilometres from the caldera. Currently the Bromo is off limits for visitors, as the volcano is the most famous tourism attraction in East Java.
Bromo started to erupt ash on Friday 26 November.

Mount Bromo (Indonesian: Gunung Bromo), is an active volcano and part of the Tengger massif, in East Java, Indonesia. At 2,329 metres (7,641 ft) it is not the highest peak of the massif, but is the most well known. The massif area is one of the most visited tourist attractions in East Java, Indonesia.
Mount Bromo sits in the middle of a vast plain called the "Sea of Sand" (Javanese: Segara Wedi or Indonesian: Lautan Pasir), a protected nature reserve since 1919. The typical way to visit Mount Bromo is from the nearby mountain village of Cemoro Lawang. From there it is possible to walk to the volcano in about 45 minutes, but it is also possible to take an organised jeep tour, which includes a stop at the viewpoint on Mount Penanjakan (2,770 m or 9,088 ft) (Indonesian: Gunung Penanjakan). The best views from Mount Bromo to the Sand Sea below and the surrounding volcanoes are at sunrise. The viewpoint on Mount Penanjakan can also be reached on foot in about two hours. From inside the caldera, sulfur is collected by workers.
