I've deleted my Facebook account and this is the easiest way to share a few photos with family and friends who seem to like to see them.
It has been said that the lake is 'turning over'....A term used when the ice sinks to the bottom of the lake and the lake water 'turns over' and becomes the lake we know in spring summer and autumn. The ice on otter lake is usually 2 to 3 feet thick...It was used for ice boxes and refrigerator cars 100 years ago for it's clarity and excellent taste.. After the ice sinks, (Usually the way for otter lake), they say many huge fish are either seen or caught....Until the lake 'turns over'. This lake is 90 feet deep in the center. I think the lake was 'turning over' the morning i took these photos.
On Saturday morning, after a quick breakfast, we went hiking along a snowmobile trail. The dirt was mostly frozen in the morning, and we didn't experience much of the difficulties making our progress. In some more messier corners we were going through the woods avoiding getting into the mud up to our knees.
The entire area is full of smaller lakes and marshes. We went to explore one, and to our joy, the clouds parted, and the sun added some colors and stronger shadows to the partially frozen lake landscape.
One of the most famous examples of Chinese ink landscape painting. Frankly, I personally, cannot say that I really can recognize or distinguish what in the quality of the line here makes it so special... but... supposedly, true experts in Chinese painting can tell that the brushwork here is amazingly exceptional.
